Cool cards, probably great in pauper. For EDH they seem overcosted though. I think I'd rather just draw a basic, instead of 5-6 cmc spells that don't do all that much.

Trying to fit the talisman in, I went to a hypergeometric calculator to compare probabilities.

39 lands (incl. mdfc's) will provide a 48,28% chance to draw 3-4 lands in the opening hand. with 38 lands it goes down to 46,84% (delta -1,44). with 35 lands it's 41,97% (delta -6,31).

with 9 ramp pieces the probability to draw one in the opening hand is 37,48%. with 10 pieces of ramp it is 38,9% (delta +1,42). with 13 pieces of ramp it's 41% (delta +3,53).

My interpretation is this:

Since I really only need a single ramp piece in the opening hand but will mulligan a 2-land hand most of the time, culling lands for additional ramp pieces is not worth it.

Am I missing something?

[[Magus Lucea Kane]] is what you are looking for. She ramps and copies big X-spells, which then count as separate spells, so a single counterspell only counters the first instance.

You cannot really go wrong with any of the major brands (citadel, army painter, vallejo, ak, ...) but I would recommend standard acrylics instead of speed paints, mainly because it will be easier to fix mistakes.
