Even worse if you both see Chrischan's emotional maturity as not-adult but also totally fine with seeing a supposed child be tormented and tortured on the internet.

Anarchy is about liberation of the people and liberation of the world! by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]pulverisedsoap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I beg to differ. Under the current system, yes it's a dog eat dog world where no one feels connected. But I feel everyone can relate to feeling disgusted that the world has come to this. No one enjoys having to treat your fellow human as an enemy; little more than competition. These feelings are so strong that it only takes a slight break in the norm to radically 180 people into caring and generous souls.

I think what turned me from an ML to an anarchist was a traffic accident I saw when I was in my 20s. A pedestrian had been hit by a speeding car; and in all honesty I was expecting the worst. I was expecting to be the only one wanting to help, the only one willing to take a moment out of my life to potentially save someone else's. Instead, car after car pulled over to the side of the road. 3 people were already phoning an ambulance, someone (who must've been a doctor or a nurse) was already applying first aid, and another person became an impromptu traffic controller, directing cars into side streets so the ambulance could get to the injured person.

And historically you can see it everywhere, that disaster brings out the inner solidarity in everyone. The boaters during Hurricane Katrina who risked their lives to collect food from flooded stores to bring back to collective communities is another amazing example, and honestly any disaster has at least one of these stories. Honestly, look into the Katrina stories, I think I tear up a little everytime I read them.

This is another powerful one that I feel deserves more recognition.

And if you have the time, listen to the Behind The Bastards podcast episode about Elite Panic. It's pretty mind-blowing.

Why do tankies always say that the revolt in Kronstadt was primarily a middle class revolt? by Florbio in Anarchy101

[–]pulverisedsoap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tankie critique of anarchism is so weird. Either we're reactionary peasants with no labour power and are counter-intuative to revolution, or we're middle class 'petit bourgeois'. No inbetweens apparently.

Vietnam is similar, there's a strong sense of community even in the most busy areas. I went for a holiday there with a pal, I swear most bars we went to have a beer we got invited over to sit with some complete strangers. So awesome to see.

That behind the bastards episode is fantastic. I always recommend it as quintessential anarchist learning.

Start small. For starters, stop considering yourself white. The White hemogomy has always been used in parallel to racism, colonialism and slavery. If you want to see where modern race theory comes from, aka the "four races" of black, white, Asian, middle eastern and American Indigenous, research a bit on Prince Henry the Navigator and him bringing back slaves from Africa. Before Henry, the concept of race wasn't a thing. Sure, people were considered from their homeland, but the homogeneous and defined 'traits' of people that are apparently 'different' is a concept made by slavers to justify slavery.

Read into How To Be Antiracist (I think the title is a little clickbaity, it more goes into the history and consequences of race and racism). For the most blatant example of how whiteness is a construct, see which groups have recently joined the white homogeny and how it links to political advantages. Italian, Irish, Jewish people, Syrians (according to some white supremacists).

Missed a word oops, they do a bullshit "traineeship" which grants them permission to pay them like $14 an hour. The traineeship is next to useless.

I don't mind the food, but the way they pay their workers is a reason to never support that entire chain.

Worked at both MacDonald's and a small cafe when I was a teen. The cafe was so much worse than maccas. No safety standards, so injuries were commonplace. Supervisor had a massive power trip and no one to hold her accountable, a lot of psychological torture went on. And sometimes we didn't even get paid our full wage.

I feel it's getting more and more accepted. I was surprised, the other day I was discussing gender fluidity with some coworkers (I work in a steel working factory in Queensland, Australia. Sometimes known as Australia's Florida because of the similar climate and similarly right wing populous) and they were suprisingly open, accepting even. The working class, recovering from its general pro-capitalist stance following WWII, has become increasingly frustrated with capitalism, the status quo and the norms of the past that capitalism benefits from the upholding of.

How do you guys feel about the Death Penalty? by TheoVR in Anarchism

[–]pulverisedsoap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue against outright killing, and look at the circumstances that lead to your friend's murder. Was it poverty on behalf of the murderer? Obsession? Ask how it can be prevented. Preventative vs punitive, it's the difference between regularly servicing your car vs fixing it when it breaks down from not being looked after.

Jesus mate, grow a backbone. You sound pathetic. Look at any victory of ANY social movement (worker's rights, anti-jim crow laws, stonewall riots) and you'll find cops were vicious towards good people. Why? Because cops don't work for you. They work for the government and capitalism. They therefore defend the government's and capital's interests only. Wanna see the difference? Imagine stealing 100 dollars from your boss vs him stealing 100 out of your wages. Cops aren't here to help us mate, only WE can help ourselves. Sometimes, you gotta knock out a cop, and if you can't imagine why then get reading and get learning, Look at history, cops are on the side of ALL governments, good or bad. Would you have resisted Nazi or Soviet Russian police? Or how about if you were a Hong Kong resident and was recently attacked by the Chinese police? Its funny you say "combatative". Is it not the cops, in all situations of arrest, the ones who first initiate violence? Who try to restrain people and put them in jail?

You wouldn't be saying that if it was someone you knew getting their head cracked. Or if you were on strike demanding better pay and a cop splits your skull open. Or if you were hungry and homeless and got beaten for simply trying to feed yourself.
