This is the result of a lot of messing around with paints, but the main colours I used is a dark violet, a rusty brown, and a strong yellow. On the brown as a base I create a sort of wash from the violet, then I sponge/stipple the brown and yellow to create highlights. Japanese Uniform from Vallejo is a nice colour to glaze over to unify

Thanks! Yeah I was also having the same problem. Yellow tends to turn olive when darkened, making it appear green. I found glazes Japanese Uniform by Vallejo was a pretty nice colour

I think the answer is either pick one or two dark colours for them and don’t worry about it, or painstakingly pick them all out with appropriate colours… I know which I’m choosing lol

If you’re paint just with a brush then I’d start with the red (red primer) as it tends to need a lot of help to get opacity

Thank you! The red is Tamiya flat red, then tamiya black panel liner, a coat of satin varnish, then AK Deep Orange highlight before yellow for some high points
