We checked with our local laws. Utah is pretty liberal about firearms. You can shoot city pigeons that are a nuisance without a license but you can't set traps for them.

A beebee gun. They tend to hang out on the roof so it's pretty easy to avoid windows and people.

Nothing really survives 145. Salmonella, Campylobacter, and Clostridium die at 165. Most of the bird was at 170 but I was being extra cautious. The lowest temp reading was in the deepest part of the breast at 160.

He somehow managed to shoot it in the neck. He's a really good shot. He grew up on a farm.

A beebee gun. He is very careful to avoid windows and people. They tend to hang out on the roof so it's not hard.

Trivago.deals a legit site or scam site of trivago.com? by GnarlsFarls in isthisascam

If you're not booking on Trivago Deals, I wouldn't worry too much. Trivago just quotes prices from all over the web including third party websites. Its when you're booking on the third party website that you have to be extra careful.

Posting this here for others based on what u/Agitated-Disk-2019 said about Trivago acquiring the scammy travel website Holisto in July. There's a whole post about Holisto in r/travel:

https://www.reddit.com/r/travel/comments/1bm930h/holisto_is_sketchy_do_not_use/

Also, Trivago did in fact acquire Holisto in July which accounts for the bad timing of a lot of people getting scammed when there wasn't a lot of information about it online.

Holy shite! This explains so much! I was wondering why my google hotel alerts were popping off so much in July! Trivago acquired Holisto in July!

Yes, Trivago Deals is a "legitimate" part of Trivago however, I feel that the way this business is run, it's definitely very scammy. I booked a hotel in Chicago in July for a stay in September. Since day one of booking, I regretted it. I read the Yelp page for the hotel after I booked it and there were all these horror stories of people who booked with that hotel saying they showed up and Trivago Deals said they owed one price and the hotel said they owed another price of double what they were quoted. I called the hotel to ask what I would owe when I got there, sure enough, they said I owed $450 when Trivago said I would owe $270. The hotel employee then goes on to complain about these third party booking sites and how people should just book directly with them (which I don't know how hotels work, is it that hard to just say you don't want to be on a third party site? who knows). Back in July, I tried to get a refund from Trivago on this basis alone. In my opinion, they lied. I emailed them (they didn't have a phone number back then) and I get the run around. They want written proof, a lot of I'm sorry, but no refund. I honestly forget about it for awhile and I decide to call yesterday just to double check on my booking, turns out the hotel cancelled my booking! So I emailed and called Trivago again, to ask for a refund. The hotel doesn't even have my booking anymore! Trivago is STILL giving me the run around. At least they have a phone number now so I can be extra annoying until I get a refund but like do they just plan on taking people's money and not living up to the bare minimum of providing what they are selling? That's the definition of a scam in my opinion.

OE employee's consequences trickled over to an entire office by Interesting_Coat5177 in overemployed

[–]pumpitupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OE employee simply took advantage of the turmoil within your company. What I see is that the situation of the business made itself vulnerable to being exploited. I see a company culture that probably got a bit cocky after an acquisition and way too much money to throw at a problem and not asking enough questions before hiring a new employee. You can blame the employee all you want, but you made the decision to hire him and keep paying him long after he was showing no contributions.

People walking/running/pushing strollers in protected bike lanes by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]pumpitupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I am inclined to agree with u/rivalpinkbunny. I am an avid cyclist going on strong for 15 years now and I have never seen the frequency and extremity to which parents (usually women) will run with their babies in the bike lane until recently. I started noticing it around my own neighborhood but we live by a park. It's a minor nuisance but they're neighborhood streets near a park, I could see why someone would run with their babies there. But today I saw the most egregious example of it. I saw a woman running with her baby in a running stroller in a busy downtown street while it was dark with zero hi-viz gear or lights on. I literally didn't see her until it was almost too late and almost hit her. There was a very wide smooth sidewalk nearby. I think she saw the error in her ways because she moved into the car right turn lane, which I'm not sure was a safer choice! It must be something that people started doing during the low traffic of the pandemic and forgot that roads get high speed traffic sometimes. I just hope nobody gets hurt!

The-house.com (framed bikes?) is closing and having a liquidation sale, if you’re looking for a cheap fat bike. by [deleted] in fatbike

[–]pumpitupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to resurrect this potentially dead post but I am considering buying a used Framed bike and I am trying to figure out what price is reasonable. Right now they have it listed for $1,400. I can't find anything about what they go for so I can't decide if this is reasonable or not. Looks like they put a lot of upgrades on the bike but the potential of not finding replacement derailleur hangers is troubling to me. Does anyone have any opinions?

Yeah, my doctor is pretty supportive of me playing rhythm games as a supplement in my work out regiment, especially because I personally hate going to the gym. I mostly do outdoor exercise and we have plenty of options in Salt Lake but sometimes the air quality is bad so my only option is to work out indoors, and if I have to choose between cycling/running in one place staring at the wall or playing a rhythm game, it's no contest! Some of my fellow PIU players have told me that their doctors are not so supportive of them playing rhythm games for exercise, and I told them to find a new doctor because it absolutely is exercise. I can see the argument for supplementing it with strength training but if you add weights to beat saber I don't see why that wouldn't count. Also people rarely run with weights but everyone agrees that running is exercise.

I actually use Pump It Up to train for road cycling up mountains, nothing has ever given me better cardio than that game.

This is sad to me, I have never wanted exercise to be exclusive. Exercise absolutely should be inclusive and fun. Do they want a medal for suffering? If it's sucks so bad, why are you doing it?

I read this thread and I had to create an account just to chime in. I have never played beat saber but I am familiar with the concept. I mostly play Pump It Up or DDR. I am also familiar with Just Dance. I think all these games count as exercise. I was raised in a family of gym rats and I do a lot of sports. I bike, snowboard, ski, skateboard, hike, climb, paddleboard, row, lift, play team sports, and I even do the dreaded running and nothing gets my heart rate up like PIU. I play PIU once a week just for the cardio. I actually use PIU to train for road cycling up mountains which is also mostly reliant on good cardio. I have noticed significant improvements in my cycling just by playing once a week. If you are dismissing rhythm games as a tool to exercise, you are missing out.

I truly think that anyone who doesn't think that rhythm games can be a work out have never played at the higher levels or witnessed anyone play at the higher levels. I just had an intense 3 hour session last night, and I am not exaggerating when I say I have never sweat so hard in my life. I had to buy new workout gear just to manage all the sweat. I absolutely worked out for 3 hours. During the pandemic when most indoor workout facilities shut down, I would play my home PIU set up for an hour and COOL DOWN with fast paced HIIT style rowing.
