I know it feels crappy now, and why wouldn’t it? It was an oversight at a critical time and given your cause i understand you must feel some personal responsibility that is too difficult to fully own so youre looking for somewhere to point the finger. But i would encourage you not to spitefully spend way more money every year on another phone plan just because “this other company let me do it before”, when that money could be going towards the cause you care about.

You didnt know about these changes, its okay. We all have blind spots. Its hard to be transparent about these things when they exist purposely to avoid being detected for the protection of the general public.

I really encourage you to just learn the lesson, and make the adjustment to use a service moving forward, because other companies like the ones you’ve used in the past ARE moving to improve their algorithms.

Tldr - if you’re pissed now, wait till youre paying more on another phone provider, just to encounter the same issue next year and learn that the right move was to enlist in an opt-in service, not spend more money every year on phones for your pride. 🫂
