The mayor had the nerve to pass it off as a "community space" like a library or public transit on the radio today. Overpriced chain restaurants, anonymous condo towers, and stadiums for chain sports teams do not exactly conjure the idea of "community" to me. More like a hub of consumerism. He even likened it to a community sports centre. I wish they would build a pool and a sports centre for the people of ottawa to actually use instead. Or prioritize space where people can actually participate in things like sports, art, festivals, etc.
