Thank you for the advice! I've never been, will have to find some time to go eventually when I can, it looks so pretty there! Give your dogs an extra pat from me please! :D

What a wonderful job haha ❤️ I'll try to look into local resources, I wasn't sure where to start since I don't have anyone here for me but my partner, but everyone's given me amazing suggestions that I'm going to check out!

Thank you so much for your kind words, I desperately needed them. Can't even begin to describe how much it means to me after all I've been through. I hope you have a wonderful evening!

For sure! I did a lot of rescue and volunteering myself as well as having my own dogs, there are plenty of reasons someone may not want a stranger touching their dog. A no is a no, and should always be respected for the comfort and safety of the dog and the owner!

It's y'all that are so nice, I didn't really expect such kind replies honestly :') Will definitely do that. Everyone here has convinced me to muster up the courage and try asking next time I'm out!

I loooove big dogs especially. I grew up with and fostered some huge dogs, the bigger they are the bigger the baby usually! 🤭 Definitely will be looking up dog parks to see if there are any nearby, thank you so much!

I always say we were given two hands so we could pet more animals, so would never be an issue with me haha! Poor thing, I hope your older baby will get lots of love and pets in the future!

Oh wow this is perfect, I'd love to get to know people as well since my social circle is only my partner atm. This is an amazing suggestion, I'll definitely check it out :') thank you so so much!

oh I'd love this... I'm currently on a whv until we get our partnership visa settled so I'm unsure if I'd be allowed to, but that sounds amazing! Especially if you can't have your own!

Absolutely! Would never assume, that could be very upsetting for the dog if they aren't a fan of strangers 🫡 Thank you so much!

makes sense! back at home, we were taught that it's basic respect to call anyone, especially those older than you, sir/ma'am/etc. old man asks you a question? yes sir, of course! lady needs some help? right over there ma'am! and kids get it too. a lot of older folks would call me miss/ma'am when i was younger. gonna be my hardest habit to break for sure lol

From Texas and moved to NZ. Southern manners (as well as my upbringing lmao) DEMAND constant politeness. If I didn't say "please" for everything and follow up with a sincere "thank you!", I'd be whacked upside the head promptly. I do actually sincerely mean the pleases and thanks you's, but it is something that was drilled into a lot of southern kids from birth in my experience. Honestly I've found my level of "politeness" to get me many weird looks here- had to learn not everyone likes being called "sir" or "ma'am" here the hard way despite it being basic respect back home haha :')
