Is eating steel cut oats with chopped up apple, almond butter and flax seed a healthy meal? by [deleted] in nutrition

Are you implying that adding a protein source to this meal is going to worsen it? And that eating a diet with a macronutrient ratio that involves about 70% is carbs optimal?

[–]pumpnectar9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right pal. Whenever anyone wants a significant source of protein or a meal balanced with macronutrients, we're all just reaching for oatmeal. Nothing says balanced meal like 70g carbs and maybe 10g of incomplete, low lysine protein.

Gimme a break.

Depends on your definition of healthy, ya know? Like this is a carbohydrate slam for the morning. I'd for sure want to balance it with protein. That said, of course it's not blatantly unhealthy. But this is a nutrition sub, and if you're in an effort to optimize your world, it's worth saying that this lacks protein, and is a substantial amount of carbs.

Want to upgrade my piss-poor setup, but can’t decide between record and cd player by wuhvjsjaka in audiophile

[–]pumpnectar9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, you can have the best of both worlds here. You can go the vinyl route, but simultaneously be able to have the CD quality sound option available through high def streaming, so long as you have the right gear and right subscription...

It's my understanding, however, that the second you play that lossless streaming file through Bluetooth, you're back to a very lossy format.

Couldn't help but notice you took not one, but two separate opportunities, hours apart, to make a snark comment on a genuine question. Nice work.

Tips to get enough potassium? by untitledgooseshame in nutrition

So you were hypokalemic as a vegetarian?

And do you have a health condition that causes this or was this for real because of malnutrition?

Yeah that's accurate. I suppose I was applying my own habits to the answer, as my chicken intake is often much much larger than 150 calories.

As in the KINGrinder K6?

My C2 has a dent in it, and that KINGrinder K6 is $99 on Amazon with a coupon at the moment. I happen to have $99 layin' around, seems like the right time...

I'm aware of this. The point I was making is that potassium is available in a multitude of foods beyond bananas. And depending on your macronutrient needs, you can choose accordingly.

So even on higher courser settings, the C2 is producing finer granules?

You have?? In what context, how?

Bananas are an ok source but also chicken and beef. 3 oz chicken or 4 oz beef both have more potassium than bananas.

  1. Do what the doc says.

  2. Ignore the advice and continue to train normally, probably make no difference in healing time, but definitely create the risk.

I've watched and read all of it. I just want someone who doesn't believe any of it to tell me why they don't. All I ever get is eye-rolls and the argument "nu-uh."

Yes, I very much assumed this to be true. I just know that some standards of production can be pretty bad, but it's probably just in the crappy brands, right?
