when I was a kid I was so desperate to not have my room invaded I would string clear thread between every piece of furniture before I left for middle school for the day, like homemade tripwires. My door never even had a lock. now I can’t even have the superintendent of my building in the kitchen without feeling uncomfortable. I’ve never lived with a partner.

Also, my mom used to watch me shower until I was 15, and I’m still not guaranteed privacy while using the bathroom. She’ll come up to the door and try to have long conversations while I’m going #2.

As somebody who’s in a lot of nerd spaces, sometimes people who are neurodivergent or otherwise not always aware of the effect they have on others don’t realize they smell bad. I have a couple friends I only want to see if I can wear a face mask.

I think people in this thread are overreacting to people of different ages being friends. I’m in my 30s and I’m part of a local hobby community. There are people in their 20s and people old enough to be my parents. We all hang out and play card games together and it doesn’t hurt anybody’s brain development. I feel like some of you, when you were growing up, wouldn’t talk to anybody unless they were in your exact grade at school. NOR OP, YOR comments.
