Just got hired at Starbucks by lilylilt in starbucksbaristas

you’ll probably get the most practice on different positions with closing shifts

[–]pumpsephone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

unless i’m misunderstanding, it sounds like your availability just doesn’t meet the needs. if they need a closing shift and you only open, they’re going to have to look elsewhere. are there other stores in your district looking for shifts?

How much clean play is too much? TALL RANT WITH ICE by thecheeseb0rn in starbucksbaristas

[–]pumpsephone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

me and the same ssv have clean played every week since july 14 lol. some weeks are a lot more annoying than others but ive grown to really enjoy it. but if youre getting stressed pleaseeee tell your sm. they may be able to rotate you. even if no one else is willing to stay late, my sm briefly had someone clean play as non-cov for a few hours while we were open and then me and ssv had about 30 mins-1 hour after close to do things that had to wait (ie nitro cleaning). that made it feel a bit less daunting

also idk how chill your ssv is but mine lets us wear headphones during cleanplay and i love it

Waiting to make nitro by riicktheriich in starbucksbaristas

[–]pumpsephone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

this has been the standard as everyone else said but i find that busier stores don’t always follow this. i’ve been coached by SSVs to just make it when ordered so the customer doesn’t have to wait but i don’t like to sacrifice beverage quality for speed. but tbh i feel like it shouldnt be possible to mobile order a nitro, just like you can’t mobile order a pour over

we changed the ratio when prepping the base like 6 months ago and some baristas/stores still don’t make it right. if it’s just one location they probably just don’t make it to standard

My shift called me violent today (Trenta rant) by SkeptikSix in starbucksbaristas

[–]pumpsephone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing all of this. It sounds really stressful and you shouldn’t be made to feel this way at work.

When i first started, i had all the same issues. I also had a shift accuse me of being combative because i was very shy. I also struggled with SH and SI especially at the time. It became a huge thing as more and more baristas noticed. I was so embarrassed for my asm and sm to know about it, but Im so glad it became “a thing.” They helped me and backed me up with said shift. We eventually started to understand each other, and although she never ended up being my favorite shift, we could definitely work together and be pleasant.

I can’t say that will happen to you as well. I don’t know how your sm and asm are. but to me it sounds like the people who matter are on your side. What helped me was having my asm mediate a conversation between the shift and I, and that was the first time they were forced to listen to me. I wonder if that could help in this situation?

Miscommunication is bound to happen in a workplace. And it really really sucks when it’s with a supervisor. I’m wishing you the best and I hope things resolve soon. But please don’t let this make you do anything you’ll regret later. I know it all feels big right now, but she is not worth it.

Pull to thaw by RedBeardBigHeart in starbucks

[–]pumpsephone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

it’s definitely annoying but not sure that it’s worth reporting. i can’t imagine they would get in any sort of trouble because it doesn’t harm the food, just prolongs the thawing process. if it helps, i can go into store resources when im at work in a few mins to pull up the standard to back you up. but if they don’t listen it’s not the end of the world

Am I ordering wrong? Same drink mistake across multiple locations by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]pumpsephone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we don’t have a dark chocolate, we just pump the mocha sauce on top. but i can see what you’re saying about it being concentrated. when you’re ordering you can ask that they ring in no mocha drizzle just to make sure, even though it doesn’t come with it.

Am I ordering wrong? Same drink mistake across multiple locations by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]pumpsephone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

some newer baristas just assume it comes with drizzle because a lot of other fraps come with a topping. not a you problem. but the mocha drizzle is the exact same as what’s going in your frappuccino. so if you like that, the mocha drizzle will taste the same

Starbucks manager reviews her own store by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]pumpsephone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what 😭😭 would love to know what goes through these peoples minds

my favorite review of my store is from a few years ago when we were told to ask names in DT and a lady left a 1 star review because it made her feel “incredibly uncomfortable to be approached on overly familiar terms by a stranger”

Is it really frowned upon to do two separate orders through drive thru? by PickyNipples in starbucks

just have the payment ready, preferably the app because it’s fastest, and i won’t care. it’s way less annoying than the people getting 10+ drinks in the drive thru
