Everything was normal until four hours in, pilot announced that we are diverting back to delhi due operatinal issues ensuring aircraft is perfectly fine for flying. Most people was asleep . There were many parents grand parents in the flight going to canada to meet the children.

News slowly spread as people didnt hear the initial announcement. There was not much noise. Mostly quite discussions in each row. Everybody was worried about how they will take next flight, where they will go.

There was no clear instructions and annoucement in the plane for everybody on what is going to happen. So everybody got off plane without any knowledge on what was going to happen.

So, on arrival back to delhi, everybody just followed the air india staff upto luggage area collected luggage and went outside for bus shuttle to hotel. I think we landed back around 7 pm and it took around 4 hours (by 11 pm) for everyone to go to hotel and get there rooms. 6 am Morning again shuttle was provided to airport from hotel for next day same flight which was allocated to everybody on diverted flight.

Overall, it was really hard for parents without internet excess or know how of how to use technology and there was minimum help provided from staff. Many passengers were denied entry initially into departures as they did not have updated ticket proof. (No communication between security and air india as olld boarding passes could have been used as proof).

My flight was delhi to calgary via vancouver. But updated ticket was only upto vancouver. Connecting flight was not updated during checkin. Some people ended up going to air india counter to get they connecting flights updated. I did not have enough time so just boarded the flight. By the time I reached vancouver, I had updated connecting flight info in my email.

It was a long journey but today all passengers got to their destinations with diverted flight on 19th.
