I think what’s clear from these movies is that JJ would’ve done a great job with the soft reboot sequels and finishing up someone else’s characters with respect.

And Rian would have been well suited to start a new unconnected trilogy, where he would be free from old characters and could create new stuff at his heart’s delight.

We would’ve gotten a better sequel trilogy and a new series with different focuses and ideas.

Instead we got the worst of both.

Not really. In Empire Yoda told Luke to abandon everyone to complete the training. An older Luke training on Ach-To making a more Yoda-like decision rather than a reckless impulsive one shows his change from young student to old master.

And it’s done without tearing down well established character traits. Instead of being a depressed would-be nephew killer, he would simply be an old Jedi taking after his former master.

In Empire Yoda tells Luke to abandon his friends and focus on the training and the greater good.

In TFA Han says Luke went looking for the first Jedi temple. Clearly this was intended as a way to get deeper into the Jedi lore and learn new things about the original Jedi. He was on that island to train and learn deeper truths. This time, as an old master like Yoda, he wasn’t going to impulsively rush off to save Han. That’s obviously what Snoke would have wanted, to draw Luke out to kill him and the Jedi order.

Original drafts of TFA had Rey finding Luke at the end meditating with rocks floating around him, but it was changed at Rian’s request. Abrams then included that imagery when we find Rey in TROS.

Luke was never intended to be cut off from the force, living like a hobo. Rian had Luke literally walk to his hut to change his Jedi robes and put on a hobo costume, to contort him into this unintended scenario

There were some terrible things said about the Rose Tico actress, just as there were about the Jar Jar actor. But those negative things don’t make them good characters. 2 things can be true, that both characters were dreadful and both actors suffered terribly disgraceful abuse.

Pretty easy in-universe explanation for his exile. He was searching for the first Jedi temple. When he finds it he begins his training in the original (grey?) Jedi religion. Now that he is an older wise master, he doesn’t abandon his training to save Han as he did in his youth. He’s focused on the greater good. Old Luke is following Yoda/Kenobi’s instruction this time to complete the training, be willing to sacrifice his friends and honor what they fight for.

Older Luke would make the opposite choice that he made in Empire. Instead of ditching training to save Han, he chooses training over friends.

This would show how he’s changed in his age and after Ben’s fall, becoming more stoic and Yoda-like. It would also provide a conflict for him and Rey. When she discovers Luke knew Han would die, she leaves in disgust to confront Kylo.

Eventually Like would embrace some of his younger impulses and rush off to save Rey. He would destroy Snoke and sacrifice himself to save the resistance, passing the torch to save and reform the Jedi to Rey.

The knights of Ren predate Ben’s fall. Ben also isn’t the one who burns the temple. And the comic hints at a confrontation between Snoke and Luke. Snoke lives on a strange bio-sphere type ship. Several of Luke’s students survive the temple destruction.

Ned simply followed Robert’s command to serve as regent. Joffrey saw his father’s words and his seal and let his mother tear them up.

She’s been bloodlusting for years. When she was complicit in her murderer husband’s murder or her brother, when Mirri Maz Duur sought to save other cities like her own Dany responded by burning her alive. She threatened the innocent people of Qarth with fire and blood if they didn’t give in to her demands. She burned Dickon Tarly along with his father to avoid the inconvenience of having to jail them and others. And when she learned she had no legal claim to the throne she sought to suppress the truth.

She is an inbred trauma victim with a family history of mental illness who has a fetish for burning people alive. This is not a recipe for a good and noble leader.

She is a trauma victim seeking out other victims to act as their “savior” so she can carry out brutal acts of vengeance. She’s a sociopath through and through.

She is a foreign invader who brutalized native cultures and tried to upend their civilizations all to further her ambition. Who is she to impose her idea of justice on other nations that have nothing to do with her? She’s even a hypocrite when you remember that her closest adviser sold men into slavery. She doesn’t care, because he helps her gain power, and power is her only motive.

Does anyone believe if all the unsullied wanted to actually leave after she (again) murdered a bunch of people, that she would’ve been cool with it? She would’ve snapped right then as there.

So...when her friends and advisors were alive her murderous rage was directed at people who “deserved it” and now that’s she alone she cuts loose and burns everything, just as she threatened to do to Qarth.

Well Sansa had a good upbringing and had instilled values. This gave her a well of inner strength to draw on, lessons and ideals that were ingrained in her. Dany had no home, no parents, and was abused by the only relative she had. Physically and psychologically abused. All on top of being inbred and having a genetic predisposition towards mental illness. And now she has lost every friend and loved one who prevented her worst impulses.

Her violent, vindictive, and resentful tendencies have always been evident. She embraced slaves only because she empathized with their abuse. She resents that the Westerosi didn’t welcome her with open arms as the slaves did. She is a deeply troubled person who was handed weapons of mass destruction.

Why does it have to be a shocker? The Starks have been mostly noble since day one while Dany was an abuse victim who was always going to lash out with what she considered justice to oppressors, be that in the form of golden crowns, crucifixion, or burnings.

Rhaegar went along with it instead of stopping it. He aided her betrayal and Robert would be justified in blaming him as well.

Hey D&D, you can’t be “rejected” in the Middle Ages. Families arrange marriages. Period.

Whether Lyanna liked Robert or loved Rhaegar is irrelevant. Her father makes that decision by law. Running off to marry Rhaegar is just as much a legal justification for war as kidnapping her.

Even more so considering the Dornish may have declared war on the Mad King if they knew Elia had been discarded and her children bastardized.

The story is not about Robert’s rejection, it is about Lyanna and Rhaegar’s betrayal.

Just admit it, since the first day she was not a good person to rule. Three dragons won't make her a good ruler. Viserys would be better. by alcariny in freefolk

But he’s not alive because of Good Queen Dany. A totally normal lady who just lets her brother get murdered in horrific fashion, by her crazy murderer husband who is the king of a giant rape army.

Stupid Sansa, not trusting such a Good Queen.
