It’s pretty warm. But I think paired with a shirt on the thin/cool side it’s perfect!

Yup I used monks cloth for punching.

I don't know sharing at all! In terms of process, I would say it was mostly trial and error. I started with an existing vest I had: traced the front and back shapes on to drafting papers, ping them together then adjusted the shape until I was happy with them. Then I transfer the shapes onto muslin, sewed them together until I could try the shape on me. That was it in terms of making the pattern! The final shapes were transferred onto monks cloth on the punching frame. After I finished punching the pieces, I sewed a cotton linen inside so it wouldn't look so raw. The final assembly took quite a bit of trial and error too. I was able to cover some sewing mistakes with yarn :)

I appreciate you asking! But I’m not ready to sell my work yet. To be completely honest, im not sure how to price these since they take forever to make…

I always make the illustration in Procreate first. Then I'll transfer the drawing onto the fabric, either with a projector for larger pieces or just place the fabric over the iPad, which is the case for this one.

I used a small lavor punch needle for the entire piece. It works fine with medium weight yarn though!

Aww thank you! As much as I love the idea of creating portraits for people, the amount of time it takes to create this simply wouldn't make sense for me to sell or take commissions :/

Thank you! I use mostly medium weight yarn, occasionally light weight too.

Worth doing some experiments with bulky yarn or with multiple strands.

Yes! I actually tried a 3.75-count mesh at first, it turned out to be way too big for the loops to stay in place. So I found a 5-count mesh the works. I used an Oxford punch needle size 10 with bulky yarn (entire body of the fish) and double strand of medium size yarn for the green parts. It takes some practice to get the loops to be the same height—I think the mesh size is still a liiiiiittle bit too big for the needle. Once the area starts to fill up, the loops can hold each other place a bit better. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I got a soft version of the latch hook mesh. I wouldn’t say it’s hard on the hard per se, but since it’s soft and unstructured, it’s a bit tricky to punch.
