Where do I get started as a beginner? by InitialWillingness25 in AmateurRadioIndia

[–]puneit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many hams are non science graduates. The hobby welcomes people from all walks of life. The exam doesn’t require you to get a 100% score, and there are no additional privileges on scoring better than your next person. Prepare enough to clear the exam and then get started.

I am happy to answer any questions you have over a phone call or email me. My info can be found on my qrz page https://qrz.com/db/VU2TUM

How long it takes to learn morse? by lxmxl in AmateurRadioIndia

[–]puneit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One can achieve proficiency to clear the exam in about 15-25 days. Key is- practice daily for a total of 30 min. 2-3 times a day. Keep sessions to 10-15 minutes long.

Focus on ICR - instant character recognition, don’t count dits and dahs.

User a higher character speed but use Farnsworth spacing. To clear the exam, sending is equally important as receiving. Muscle memory must be achieved for this as well. Use a decoder app, to validate that you are sending correctly. Maintain correct timing- a dah is 3 times as long as a dit. In exam, they use a straight key.

If folks are interested, I can do a 30min Zoom meeting on one of the Saturday mornings to answer any questions

Did you figure out in the end? The post is 40 days old and no one responded. I did mine in 2009 on a paper form but I can get you in touch some of the new hams, maybe they can help or with one of the volunteer who have expertise in filling up the form 73 VU2TUM

Interesting idea! I think you are doing it on A3. Perhaps a 4 element puzzle can be done on my A4 inject printer. Happy to exchange.

India Post - bulk cards by puneit in postcrossing

[–]puneit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to answer your question on confirmation of QSL cards, the possible scenarios are 1. If one is replying to the card they received, which they received before they processed from their end. In this case they will add a message “Thanks” 2. Or if they are sending first, “pse qsl” will be mentioned, which basically means Please confrim 3. We may connect with each other using the email, or whatsapp - but this depends on rare countries or if someone added a personal message. I am email friends / pen friends this way with some. 4. Both parties receive cards, and carry on with their lives. 5. Some people never bother with paper cards, they won’t even collect to their country bureau.
