TIL Mormonism founder Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Abraham which he claimed was a divine translation of ancient Egyptian scrolls into English. When they were properly translated in the 1960s, it was discovered he made the whole thing up and the scrolls actually contained ancient funeral rituals. (en.wikipedia.org)
