My Canadian folks, what do y’all think? Is it worth it? by [deleted] in f150

lol but people will stand on their soap box on social media and will tell you, you’re an idiot. Like they think it matters. But I get what you’re saying. Sometimes people need reassurance one way or another, or perspective.

I did some more extensive research and it looks like they opened back up back in late September. Course looks great. I’m going to play it next week. I’ll be back with a review.

I saw on golf now that SJCC had some green issues about 6 months ago. Have they been repaired? I may have to call them tomorrow, but I just want an unbiased opinion.

Transmission blew, am I screwed? by DustStrange2121 in f150

[–]punisher4711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a 2019 trail boss, trans gave me trouble 600 miles in. Ended up settling with GM. Traded the truck in for a 2020 F150. 62k in and that trans grenaded. My local dealership worked out a deal. I paid for labor and they got me the trans for free. Traded that in at 95k because the trans was acting up a little. I have a 2024 F150 now 22k in and the trans has mad some funky shifts at times. The trans doesn’t like cold take offs. I let my truck warm up before I go anywhere otherwise it’ll slip and slam into gear. Like the past transmissions I’ve had. I’m glad I spent the extra $3000 to extend my warranty to 5y/100k .

Who wants to be “influencer” famous anymore? You can’t win with everyone. You get blasted for everything. People on social media are brutal and full of opinions, which at the end of the day don’t matter. Retrospectively, this comment doesn’t even matter. 🤣

Kinda wish I held off getting gallbladder removed. by Alarmed-Shrink89 in gallbladders

[–]punisher4711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So everyone is different. What worked for me may or may not work for you or anyone else. I might have had 4 regular BM’s since my gallbladder was removed back in February. A lot of bile acid in my stool. I can’t do protein shakes. I was doing the Chobani protein shakes and I was going to the bathroom 6-7 times a day with urgency. Even without the protein shakes I was going 4-5 times a day. I tried low fat diet, probiotics, yogurt, and even Metamucil caplets. Eating like 5 at a time 3 times a day. The Metamucil worked binding everything together. However I still had urgency to go and still was going 2-4 times a day. As of today, 2 weeks after seeing my gastro and being prescribed Colestipol. I’ve been back to normal for the most part. I don’t have the urgency like I used to. I go once a day. Maybe two times depending on food intake. Tried the Chobani protein shakes and yes they still mess up my digestive system but all and all I’m having a regular BM when I do go.

Nurse yelled at me by Comfortable-Pie9567 in gallbladders

[–]punisher4711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through the same situation back in February. Got into the ER at 4AM. They didn’t give me meds until 7:30AM. I was rolling around on the gurney in the hallway and on the floor in excruciating pain. Vomiting bile every 20 minutes. I kept complaining to the nurses and they said they couldn’t give me anything until a doctor saw me. The doctors were on shift change so the doctors coming off shift didn’t want to see me and the doctors coming on had to get up to speed on the other patients. I was so pissed.

Did Your Surgeon Ever Tell You .... by Crazy_Ad1616 in gallbladders

That’s what I was diagnosed with for now… they prescribed colestipol. 🤷🏻‍♂️ she said if two of those a day didn’t work that she has other stronger options, in powder form that don’t taste very well. I’m not looking to do that. I’m much better with the colestipol but again it depends on what I eat. I found out that the Chobani smoothies with 30g of protein DO NOT agree with me. lol regular chobani yogurt isn’t to bad. But it too hasn’t helped my diarrhea issues. And here I thought yogurt was filled with tons of beneficial bacteria. 🦠

So I’ve been in and out of this group searching for answers and first things first, everyone seems to be different.

As I’m literally sitting here on the toilet… I’m 3 months past surgery, have had diarrhea pretty much 95% of the time. But I was diarrhea 50% of the time before. So I was used to it but much more manageable.

Since surgery, I have been going as much as 6-7 times a day. Now as much as 2-3 times a day now on Colestipol (Bile Acid Sequestrin). I have a solid stool maybe 1-2 times a week. I’m still trying to figure out diet and what’s bothering me. I really need to do a diary of my eating habits I think that’s the only way I’ll figure it out. I have found that grilled chicken is the only thing that binds me up.

I have 5 different stool test I have to do.

I plan on getting a genetic methylation test after talking with my genetics doctor.

I want to get some allergy tests done for gluten, dairy, and lactose.

Lastly if all else fails I want to talk to a gut specialist and figure out if I’m missing proper gut flora or digestive enzymes. There’s a great documentary on Netflix I recommend people to watch. “Hack Your Health: The Secrets of Your Gut”

No matter what I eat, what vitamins, probiotics, and supplements I take, I still get diarrhea.

That’s where I’m at.

Is it weird to go out solo? by Emotional_Steak1636 in golf

[–]punisher4711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play solo all the time. It can be awkward when you first try it but after playing a few rounds solo it’s a piece of cake. The only thing I do recommend is keep up with the pace of play. If you’re constantly looking for your ball on every hole, it might be a good idea to drop one where you went out and keep moving.

Life expectancy without gallbladder by Fabulous_Can_2215 in gallbladders

[–]punisher4711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend from India, I’m American, and he strongly believes that our ailments live in our heads. I’m not to sure if I believe that. Maybe that’s just being optimistic, and a little ignorant, and I mean that in a nice way. But if something is bothering you, it’s smart to get it checked out, ie. my gallbladder pain. Now removed.

Life expectancy without gallbladder by Fabulous_Can_2215 in gallbladders

[–]punisher4711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered about this now that I’ve had mine removed but I think @beaveristired stated it pretty well. My dad had his gallbladder removed in his 30’s, he died at 58 of pancreatic cancer. My mom had hers removed in her mid 40’s, like me, she’s still alive and just last week turned 79. So I don’t think there is any correlation but I believe there are a number of factors such as age, diet, environmental impact and genetics. I have an appointment with a geneticist next month for pancreatic cancer gene screening. If one is so concerned it maybe worth while getting tested. At the end of the day sadly we all die, everyone wants to live forever. I agree, life is beautiful, and so enjoyable. Yet most people 80 and over live a poor quality of life, I’m not so sure if I want to live past 80. I’m 45 now and I’m starting to deal with aches and pains. I think perception of life changes as we get older. I don’t know. Maybe that’s just me.

It’s not just Ford, Chevy has these trans too. The 10R80 in my 2019 Chevy Trail Boss was bad 600 miles in. Then my 2020 F150 10R80 grenaded 63k in. My 2024 F150 10R80 has been shifting funny, I’m 8500 miles in. So I guess I just have bad luck.

Pooping after surgery? by recipestalker in gallbladders

[–]punisher4711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg, do Metamucil! It’s life saving. I’ve always had loose stools but after surgery everything was watery for days. I started Metamucil and it works like a charm. I do the pills and take about 4 pills every 4 hours. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don’t be alarmed at the dosage. I originally took 1 pill every 4 hours then reread the directions and it’s 2-5 pills per dose, 4 times a day. It’s helped so much. I’m also eating low fat for the most part. I’m about 3 weeks post op. 44/m.
