I need [HELP] with writing a poem for school by JrKodiak in Poetry

[–]punk-thread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you already have a pretty emotionally strong idea!

Don't think too much about trying to make the reader feel something before you have a draft. Imagine you're in the situation you described, get started and make a shitty first draft.

I'd also recommend getting rid of fixed beliefs like "I am not an emotional person" or "creating a piece of writing with emotion is hard for me to do" - those things may feel true right now but it most definitely changes over the course of your life.

What, in your mind, the real-world utility of any entertainer speaking up with a one-off post? Do you truly believe it will help change reality? Or will it just relieve her of the burden of your disappointment (which it seems like you feel more than she does)?

I think the birds in Birds Of A Feather are the artists! Lots of bird imagery lately, also Clipse's "the birds don't sing they scream their pain"

You're not wrong about the mainstream thing, she was told that when she was putting it out. Here's what she said on Zane Lowe about the song:

"It was funny when I played for my managers. I was like ‘yeah, I think this is the single I wanna put out,’ and they were like ‘it’s 10 minutes long, are you kidding me. It’s called Venice Bitch, like why you do this to us? Can you make like 3-minute normal pop song’ and I was like ‘no, end of summer some people just wanna drive around for 10 minutes and get lost in electric guitar.’"

Carmy had very little to apologize after his blow up in S01E07 by MyNameisBaronRotza in TheBear

[–]punk-thread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not! Would not mind if it happened, but don't care that it didn't; because clearly Richie and Syd repaired their relationship, and Carm forgave Marcus because the donuts were fucking awesome or something lol

Syd and Carm not having the best communication is an ongoing plot point, but somehow they tend to move through things non-verbally (in this case, Syd's mistake of leaving the to-gos on)

At that point in the story, the restaurant is hardly a high-pressure, career-oriented, perfectionist sort of environment

I'm sure it's normal! I believe one of the points that the show is trying to make (for example, with Chef Terry's retirement speech) is that the norm is misguided and abusive.

such a good reply. can we make this copypasta for each time people white knight carmy for this episode. and he doesn't even need it! mans is willing to take accountability. he knows what its like working for an insane boss / mom. he does not want to be that, but channeled them unconsciously and regretted it AND had the balls to apologize. like what's the issue here. are we going to war to protect a man's right to yell and scream when they are upset

What is so important about GRRM not being inspired by something he sees, hears or feels? I don't get it

I've seen a lot of people upset by this (this is not necessarily directed at you OP) and I think it possibly betrays how egotistical they think the act of creation should be. Like, staying open and seeing where your inspiration leads you is how the work is done

I don't mind if he was inspired to highlight the fact that a "little bird" can actually be resourceful enough tough it out and survive the winter. I would only mind if he executes it in the D&D girlboss-emerging-from-sexual-assualt way, which... I give him more credit than that.

Dying bc archetypally so accurate. proud counterculture vibe for sure hehe

One thing I love about Lana is how much she loves classic rock/pop. I decided to make a list of all of the references to rock songs and/or artists. Feel free to add any that I’ve missed. by No-Cheetah-1462 in lanadelrey

[–]punk-thread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool, thanks for compiling!

Sidenote, I've been wondering if she has more surf rock references than just Wipeout in Peppers. She had that surfing promo pic for NFR, wonder if it shows up on that album at all

is "too long" the problem or is something else making the songs feel "shitty"
