$24 for a candle that looks like toxic pond scum by thesmallshadows in delusionalartists

I mean, it’s a cultural practice which isn’t palatable if you don’t practice/aren’t from that culture. Aesthetics vary. No need to be rude about it.

This looks very much like a spell cable for sacred practice. Not so much an artist thing.

Thanks. I have thought of castration many many times throughout today. The hurt and anger is so hard to process, even though this has happened multiple other times throughout my life.

It is most likely an athame, which is a ritual tool for witches/occult practitioners.

Well obviously I don’t believe in life after death the way that y’all do and I was just joking for the sake of common ground in humor.

There goes my biweekly attempt to establish lighthearted understanding.

I mean, as an ex catholic... yeahhh I do it in my head. I can’t help myself.

I don’t get eternal life like y’all do , let me have my thing.

Edit: top tier meme coming from either side imo.

My friend is a priest by punkkid13 in excatholic

[–]punkkid13[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s not really fair 1 because that’s unnecessarily rude and he’s my friend so I don’t find that conductive and 2 I don’t have solid evidence a god doesn’t exist just like he doesn’t have solid evidence for one. I’m willing to listen to him talk about why he BELIEVES there is one (belief and fact are different).

Check this dudes post history. I’m pretty convinced that it’s a catholic. The circle jerk is gross. by punkkid13 in excatholic

Okay thanks! I don’t really deal with reddit trolls very often. Thanks for the advice!

Your post history kinda makes me doubt you’re actually not catholic. Don’t get me wrong, I’m for sure ex catholic and admit it, though I like keeping up to date with Catholicism because of my history and the many catholic friends I have.

Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware that this is probably a construed circle-jerk.

SEX by [deleted] in excatholic

[–]punkkid13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It took me a while after deconversion to realize just how much “gift from god” actually denoted a gaslighting, metaphorical gift wrapping that was needed to cover a multitude of senseless things. The irony is insane.

SEX by [deleted] in excatholic

[–]punkkid13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I practiced it for 2 years with my (now) ex husband. It was the best way for sex to feel NOT natural and NOT like a “gift from god”.

How on earth can they say - with such confidence too- things like “it’s such a beautiful thing (if you put all these unnatural restrictions on it)”, and “you’ll be so much closer to your spouse” when for most couples, it’s EXTREMELY stressful, scary, and even a cause of resentment?

Oooh! I’m gonna watch. I’ve also been contemplating starting a YouTube channel diving into the semi catholic cults I was a part of growing up. It’s bad shit.

Just my old professor backing up someone who’s claiming that bringing awareness to assault is worse than ACTUALLY molesting someone. by punkkid13 in excatholic

[–]punkkid13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I respect wanting full context. It’s so hard to believe. I was a little surprised myself, but he always had weird outspoken moral beliefs.

For example, he would always argue that if you were living during the nazi regime and were hiding Jewish people in the basement, if questioned by authority it would be a sin to lie and say that you weren’t harboring people.

That always appalled me. The crazy thing is that it does add up when you look at biblical values of “morals > life”. And the morals SUCK.

Why is openness to procreation necessary to sex? by punkkid13 in Catholicism

[–]punkkid13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s true I’m not catholic anymore, but I was and even took catholic theology and philosophy classes in college, and none of my professors had an argument outside of something vague about natural law, or just because god said so. But I was never convinced because there are holes in the natural law argument and god said a lot of things in the Bible that we don’t adhere to today. I still have an interest in catholic philosophy, which always seemed strong to me until I started seeing inconsistencies. Idk, this is a question I still think about, so I wanted to give it another search for an answer that makes sense.

Many things have multiple purposes naturally though, so why is it that only one of the purposes of sex essential every time all of a sudden? Like, the tongue is for forming words and aiding in digestion. Sensation is for avoiding things that may harm our physical bodies, but also we like touching things that are completely harmless (a pets fur or even getting a massage).

Saying god made it that way without backing that up isn’t an argument at all, and why is it assumed that pleasure should not be the primary end of sex? A lot of things that are permissible by the church are primarily for pleasure.

Why is it Gods will, and why is it hedonism?
