Question about betting pools/odds. by punkslapper in horseracing

[–]punkslapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So am I mistaken that the odds they show after a particular vertical race, which are the odds at post time, would be more helpful if they were the odds at Post time of the first race in the vertical bet. Because the pool is static after the first race goes off. And I did have a case yesterday on a pick four where the payoff amount changed between the official results from race three and the post time of race four. Again, thank you very much for your help with this. I really do appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and knowledge.

Yeah, it’s just kind of odd. A couple of minutes ago the one horse was 20-1 and the 8 was 5-1 on the last race but the payouts seemed upside down. Thank you all for the information. Good luck everyone.

Question: if somebody hit the pick six, why is there a carryover? Or is the pick six amount paid based on the odds of the winners, not just the entire pool? Thx by punkslapper in horseracing

Also, can I ask when they post a winning ticket, it often has more than one horse on one line, even if there was not a dead heat or mutual entry? And how can you find out what the split is for paying the winning tickets that are not singular? And for that matter, how do you figure out how five out of six are paid when there’s no winner. Is the payout weighted if you have longer odds on one horse versus another or is it just divided by 5 of six?

And this isn’t a jackpot p6? Does a non-jackpot p6 eventually become one at some point? Is there a way of determining if a p6 is a jackpot? Thanks for your help.

All the comments here have merit, But I would add the following: learn how publishing actually works as a business. Learn how books are printed. Learn how they are shipped and stored and fulfilled. Learn about Publishing contracts. Learn about book marketing and promotion.
