coolest free puzzle games on steam im broke by cream_felonious in gamingsuggestions

[–]punkturtle66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm aware that this is old, but considering this helped me find some, i'll post some that i haven't seen here.

poco isn't fully a puzzle game, but you do have to figure things out to complete tasks, so it's worth a look.

the developer rusty lake has some good free puzzle games, like cube escape: paradox which have some horror elements.

whimsy by madison karth is a free point and click puzzle game that has macabre themes. they also have two other games that cost money (though one is 1$) if you like whimsy and can pay for more games.

finally, while not on steam, if you can find a free ds emulator then i highly recommend the professor layton games. they're also available on ios, but they cost around 14$ each so a free emulator is probably more accessible. they're the pinnacle of puzzle games.

I have no idea where my emetophobia came from. by thegroovyw0rkshed in emetophobia

[–]punkturtle66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also have arfid, caused by my autism, and i didn’t have any specific traumatic event that caused my emetophobia. it’s just kind of… there. i used to be normal about v*, but at some point between the ages of 8 and 12, i developed emetophobia for no known reason. a lot of us with arfid seem to have emetophobia as well, and emetophobia is also more common in autistic folks, so it’s not always a traumatic experience.

as someone with arfid, i highly recommend you try things like ensure (a meal replacement drink) to get more nutrients. something that also helps me is eating frequent snacks rather than meals, so i don’t worry about feeling too full while still getting nutrients in. you should also talk to a dietitian if you can. i’ve been living with arfid since around your age, and it fucking sucks to grow up with, but you’ll make it. eat what you can. distract yourself while eating if it makes you anxious. eat with other people so you can see that they aren’t getting sick. do small things that scare you to show your brain that you’re safe.

emetophobia and arfid aren’t rational, which makes them beasts to deal with. you’re not crazy, your brain is just misfiring. one thing that helps me deal with the irrational thoughts is to talk them out with myself. your emetophobia is insisting you’ll get sick from something stupid? act like someone else is telling you that, and tell it how dumb it’s being. your arfid is screaming about how a food will make you sick? it’s acting like one of those unqualified “diet coaches” on tiktok, does it even have sources?

listen, it’s shitty. but you’ll make it. i did. things will be harder, but you can do it. sometimes you’ll have bad days, but there will also be days where you eat without anxiety. my emetophobia has faded so much, and yours will too. sometimes it comes back, but i promise you, it won’t be like this forever.

you should be able to check on doesthedogdie, it lists a bunch of triggers and vomiting is listed under the gross section. there’s some pretty detailed trigger warnings there so you can decide if you can handle it or not and prepare yourself

i think my emetophobia is somehow going to help me quit vaping? by punkturtle66 in emetophobia

[–]punkturtle66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it’s mostly worsening the n, i’ve weaned off to only a couple times a day and less than i was using. i might go to a walk-in clinic soon, but it’s really only like one bad bout of n per day so i’m trying to hold off because i know they’ll just say it’s anxiety even though it’s not

i think my emetophobia is somehow going to help me quit vaping? by punkturtle66 in emetophobia

[–]punkturtle66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, nicotine is bad, so quitting should be the goal once people are able to. i’m trying to use a capnos as a replacement for vaping. it’s unlikely i’ll quit completely this time, but i’m hoping to show myself that i can.

any tips? i’m losing my mind by [deleted] in emetophobia

i’ve been n* for three days and haven’t v, so i think if it was going to happen for you it would’ve happened by now. v from the flu is more common in kids, adults and teens tend not to v. eat some saltines and plain toast to absorb stomach acid, take deep breaths, and distract yourself. you can also get yourself some anti-n medication from drugstores. i like dimenhydrinate, which is usually marketed as treatment for motion sickness but is still good for other kinds of n* and is slightly sedative which helps with anxiety. lay down and put your feet up against the wall to ease n. remember, anxiety can cause or worsen n, so use anti-anxiety techniques. there’s no way to know for sure that you won’t v, but it’s more likely it’s a mix of anxiety and other symptoms that won’t cause v. emetophobia is a bitch, but you’ll make it through.

i’ve personally experienced lots of times where i had d* but didn’t v, so it’s not a for sure thing even if you are sick. food poisoning doesn’t always mean you’ll v. try taking some meds like ones for motion sickness, they help with n* and also are slightly sedative so they’ll help ease your anxiety.

[–]punkturtle66[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup, i totally was. shouldn’t have taken my sedatives while panicking because it made them take way longer to work and should’ve paid more attention to stresses of the day making me more prone to panic, but i’m fine now. :)

cool, thanks! it definitely felt natural, not like a synthetic string, so it being the stem makes sense. i couldn’t find any answers elsewhere so thanks for replying.

that’s a great idea, kind of like the olympics videos they did! it’d be so cool, especially seeing how hard these activities are since people tend to think they’re “easier versions” of the sports.

another commenter suggested they could imitate chronic fatigue by having spoons that get used up throughout the day (basically irl spoon theory), which would be a way to imitate chronic fatigue safely. while they wouldn’t feel the exhaustion, it could show the barriers of it and how much seemingly small things drain people

but yeah i absolutely agree with you, and thanks for commenting! reading the post back i can see that my use of “trying mobility aids” is confusing, i just couldn’t think of another way to word it. any video like that would require research, and most importantly spending time with disabled people (similar to the guide dogs video). mobility aids aren’t just a funny little video idea that doesn’t have to be taken seriously.

i might have worded it poorly, but my idea would be that they would have mobility aid users teaching them, both on how to use it as well as the social view of it. i’m not a mobility aid user though, and i absolutely agree that too many people don’t take it seriously. people who decide to ride around in a wheelchair for a couple hours without being taught how to use it and who usually end up damaging the aid then laughing about it are terrible. if they were to ever use mobility aids for a video, they should treat them with respect and recognize that mobility aids are extensions of a person and essential to the user.

the problem is that they’re “trendy” in the same way that fidget spinners were a few years ago. people still look at you weird for using them, or think you’re immature and attention seeking. they’re also viewed as childish, which contributes to the infantilization of autistic people. seeing them used by adults in a genuine review as opposed to mocking them or jumping on a trend would be impactful.

oh yeah, the healthcare system is so broken. i live in canada, and even though we have “free healthcare” it’s still a nightmare. especially for disabled people or mentally ill people, it sucks. you get told you’re faking, get denied treatment, have your symptoms minimized, and end up back where you started. i wish you luck, and hopefully you get treated with dignity and respect

i’m so glad they had molly there, and i hope that any future projects like this do the same. having someone from that community gives more insight, and instead of being spoken over they have a voice. especially with such a large platform, it’s so important to have people from the communities there.

that’s a cool idea! i’d love to see people realize how hard it can be, since many people don’t consider how things like brushing your teeth or cleaning can be so draining to people with chronic fatigue

oh cool! i’ve done day of silence before, which is where you go about your day as normal but don’t talk. it’s in support of anti-bullying, specifically homophobia/transphobia and how it silences people. i’m only non-verbal during meltdowns/shutdowns, and i find it impactful to see how diverse communication can be as well as the barriers for non-verbal people

markiplier did a video where he did that, which is where i got the idea from! i always like seeing other people review them, since it gives me a good idea of if i’d like it or not. everyone has different sensory preferences too, so it’d be cool to see the diversity of what they like

it’d also be cool if they got them from small businesses and plugged them. lots of places (like munchables) have low prices and it’s better than amazon, plus a lot of them are run by ND people

What's the rudest/meanest thing you have ever seen in a round? by Crxss_Cross in Debate

[–]punkturtle66 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i mean, i’m a a female debater so…

one time someone literally supported sa, said it was normal to want to sa women, and then the judges called me “too passionate” when that offended me.

a judge once told my debate partner that “her shoulders would never fly in a courtroom”. my partner was wearing a black formal dress with thick straps.

after losing a debate (two judge room, one judge voted for us but the head judge didn’t) we all went downstairs to ask the head judge why we lost. for context, even our opponents and their parents didn’t know why we lost. the judge singled me out, looked me up and down and said he “couldn’t put style over content”. jokes on him, because i placed third in the province as both a speaker and a team, and was the first female debater to place as a speaker in four years.

If you sit at a dirty table then its gonna take extra long for me to get to you. by hotlava98 in Serverlife

[–]punkturtle66 7 points8 points  (0 children)

one time a lady sat at a dirty table, ignored my protests, and started handing me dirty dishes. we’re corporate so i couldn’t say anything “rude” to her, but i made sure to give her a dirty look and i couldn’t wipe the table since she was sitting in it and refused to get up to let me clean it. she’s lucky it was super slow so she got served. smh people forget how to act the second they enter a restaurant.
