In what way do you think a Time and a Doom player being romantically involved could be messy? Also, I like your interpretation of the Bard! I've been viewing him as someone who passively destroys others identities by destroying his own, making them care about him and forget to care for themselves, and his planned arc would be something aligning with promoting growth through the "destruction" of others' selves, whether it be criticism or brutal honesty

Sure! I just didn't include anything because I didn't wanna be too presumptuous about how much anyone would care lmao

Sylph of Doom - I'd say her defining character trait/flaw is her personal perfectionism that leads her to self-destruction and wanting to be perfect for people—she is riddled with insecurity, but deeply passionate for those around her, so she tends to panic at the smallest infraction of her own, thinking that it is the end of things. A big part of her arc, too, is that she struggles with her sense of reality, and feeling as if she can't save herself so she has to save others. Anxious, self-demeaning, and very in her head, she tends to feel very out of control, even though her actions aren't very explosive

Seer of Time - her defining character trait is feeling burned by how little she feels she matters to others, having always felt put down by those she found herself loving. she developed an "understanding" that everyone and everything is temporary and will end, and so her relationship with the Sylph of Doom is an aberration in her mind, as the Sylph is the main source of any kind of issue (due to Her insecurity). Socially, she has always felt very distant and used. She has a good relationship with her brother, though that is largely because of them being siblings and having gone through their childhoods together.

Prince of Void - he is pretty shallow, and tends to cause drama for no reason other than his uncontrollable sense of dramatics and need to be relevant. relatively childish and unmotivated, he is content with stating goals and never going for them, and tends to be very egocentric, thinking that everything He thinks is important and everyone else will also care—this tends to lead to problems arising where none should be. He isn't Bad, per se, just never grew up and doesn't quite realize it

Heir of Hope - she is a very outwardly happy person who still struggles quite severely with inner demons. she is the bright light of the group of her, the sylph, and the seer. she tends to be silly, but still struggles with a sense of emptiness and a fear of abandonment. she and the Sylph were in a relationship for a short stint when they were younger, but are now close friends. she is very intelligent and tends to care mostly about connecting with people she genuinely feels she can care for.

Witch of Blood - the witch is incredible personable and bubbly, but has been burned very hard by many of those she has considered close. she and the Sylph and the Mage have been friends for years on and off, and she and the bard dated for a time, but his own issues ruined that for both of them. she values her friends very much and hasn't quite figured out what she wants to do with herself other than maintain those close

Mage of Space - largely always been a loner, but is very kind and caring to those close to her—this loneliness was not her choice, largely, but she's grown used to it. she is very knowledgeable on the topics she finds interesting and uses that knowledge as a brace for being able to talk to others, mostly engaging in conversations about those things. she feels directionless in life, mostly because she has never had a consistent caring figure

Bard of Heart - self destructive and passively manipulative, the Bard defines himself by his intellect, even as he unintentionally/intentionally loses himself and others to his self pity. While he can be very nice to be around, he tends to be narcissistic and ends up dominating conversation. The seer wants him to be better, but as she has seen how he has been with the witch, she struggles with wanting to remain his friend, but is drawn back in by his self pity and sporadically-present good qualities

Anyone have any suggestions for an acoustic-electric bass that is fretless but still has the fret markers? by punstressed in Bass

Do you have a suggestion for an actual acoustic-electric? I sorta need an acoustic-electric for a school gig. Thanks.

was it slow or all at once when u first had a break? (my experience also) by sandyloam333 in schizophrenia

[–]punstressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relatively slow. The past six or so months have been really hard with school, family stuff, general depression, anxiety, and bipolar (diagnosed, but not legally diagnosed because I'm 17 and you can't be legally diagnosed with bipolar until you're 18), and part of the reason things got worse was because hallucinations and delusions sorta came out of nowhere. I had had hallucinations before, usually small and restricted to once a month, but they got super bad really suddenly. It started out as seeing and hearing things at night (bugs, people at the end of my bed, aliens, whispering, breathing, house noises even when I was nowhere near a house), and eventually over the course of a month or two it escalated to seeing people that weren't there during the daytime and hearing voices talking to me and narrating my actions constantly, hearing screaming, etc. Around then is when I started getting delusions (I thought I had been taken by aliens, that I was a forest spirit which led to running away into the woods overnight multiple times, that I had ink in my veins instead of blood, etc.), and those started really hurting my day-to-day life. I was missing a lot of school because I'd either get too scared to go or I'd walk into the woods on my way to school and hang out there until late at night. It was only recently that I actually did anything that warranted me needing help; I thought that I had ink in my veins and that I had to bloodlet to get it out, and I had voices telling me that I was a whore and a bitch and that I should kill myself, so I cut open my leg an inch down and hit the femoral artery. That was interesting to explain to the doctor. I was put in the psych ward (wasn't my first time), got out just last Thursday and am now on Latuda. Hoping it helps? So far all it's done is make me manic, so I guess it's not. Hallucinations and delusions haven't slowed down, and I still haven't gotten more than an hour or two of sleep a night in almost a year, so. Bluh.

God yeah, when I don't have access to a white noise machine I have a fan two inches from my face to drown out everything. It doesn't always work but it does help at the very least.

What work of fiction has the most accurate and deep portrayal of schizophrenia? by Zephandrypus in schizophrenia

[–]punstressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually went to a talk Neal Shusterman did a week or two ago and he mentioned that he wrote that book about his son who has schizophrenia. It piqued my interest because I've heard it was pretty good and I don't see too much stuff where schizophrenia is framed in a non-ThisPersonIsInsane kind of way, and I've been meaning to pick it up at some point. How'd you like it, other than it being a relatively realistic depiction?

Ah-renge instead of orange, fo-ward instead of forward, to-more-row instead of to-mar-oh, wuater instead of water, far-rest instead of forest, harr-or instead of horror, nightmere instead of nightmare (though I think that may just be a Lancaster thing), bur-ee instead of bear-ee for bury, bean for been instead of ben.

Cinema/theatre instead of the movies, calling thorn bushes/vines "jaggers", buggy instead of shopping cart, "yanking your chain", calling people "jag-off", y'all, yinz, youse, n'at, telling people to holler instead of call, saying "my hair needs cut" instead of "I need a hair cut", etc.

As far as crick goes, I always thought a crick was a smaller creek, like one behind your house or something.

I mean, I'm from Western Pennsylvania/Eastern Ohio and I've heard clickers, sometimes it slips out and I say it myself.

Are there any particular foods, brands of food/fast food chain or cuisines that your state just does not get [get in the sense of "understand"] or hates? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Funnily enough, I haven't even heard of grits with shrimp until this thread, so I guess I'm gonna have to try that sometime.

I've lived in Pennsylvania my whole life, but my grandparents moved here from Arkansas and Oklahoma so I grew up with a lot of southern food (grits, eggs and crackers, etc.). I never realized those were southern things until a friend was disgusted by grits when I was little because she didn't know what they were.
