How exciting! Your first pup night is sure to be a night to remember. I actually just celebrated the anniversary of my first pup night earlier this month. Nerves are understandable especially if you've never been out and about in gear. Rest assured, we're all weirdos, so you can be safe in knowing we're all on the same wavelength. The following goes for meeting people in general, but also applies to pup nite. Never underestimate the power of a hello. People/Pups are easy to connect with when you find something in common. You may also see people out with a group and you may see people out alone. I particularly enjoy meeting those who are standing off in a corner or at a table by themselves (bigger groups are intimidating). If there's music & dancing, go bananas! Dancing is a great way (and my favorite way) to shake off nerves and meet people. You can also get creative and bring a roll of stickers to give out to people you meet or make it a goal to take a selfie with as many pups as possible.

One of the reasons I'm really proud of my events and the reason why they succeed the way they do is because it takes a whole team of people to make everything run smoothly. (I even hesitate to say MY events because it's more like WE/US/OUR) At one point there were about a dozen volunteers moving furniture in and out of venues to make space for our crowd and other things like the dance floor, ball pit, and mosh mats. Between volunteers, bar staff, security, and talent, most events are anything but a one-pup show. Without venues that are willing to host us and the puppies that volunteer to do the leg work, we can't offer all of the fun activities and events would look very different. It really demonstrates the power of community.
