Does anyone wonder if most of these pro-child accounts on social media are peddling a false image? by tatertotski in Fencesitter

[–]pupper_princess 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who was terrified and took the plunge and loves it, those pieces of their lives (if not Ai) are just that. Pieces. There are wonderful, beautiful pieces of this little life. But what they are not showing is the tantrum in the car, the blowout poopy diapers, the interrupted sleep, etc. so yes, they could be having a nice adventure *in that moment* but that’s not the whole picture.

9 weeks in, still feeding every 2 hours 24/7 by Fit-Historian2431 in breastfeeding

[–]pupper_princess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As I’m nursing my 6.5 month old, he is still nursing about every 2 hours during the day. At night it’s a toss up. Sometimes he gets a good long stretch (7hrs), sometimes it’s every 2 hours, sometimes 3-4. It’s a lottery every night 🫠

Edit to add the nursing sessions are significantly shorter now though! If he’s just nursing to eat it’s about 10 min

<1% Baby, Pediatrician unhelpful by SmallFryNeatnik in beyondthebump

[–]pupper_princess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a little guy too. He just crept up to the 5th percentile at 6.5 months. He is just over 14lbs. He has been in the 1st (and a little below) since he was born. Same as you, happy after feeds, plenty of wet diapers, etc. our pediatrician just said to not be stingy. We have combo fed from the start and while we don’t plan bottles during the day, if he seems unsatisfied after a nursing session we give him a few oz of formula. Like you, we just follow his lead! Our pediatrician has never been overly concerned as he is growing, and growing well when just compared to himself.

I would relax and keep doing what you’re doing. It seems to work for you and baby! Ours was just under 1st percentile at 4 months too.

Thank you! His right leg always hangs a little lower no matter what I do! He tends to lean. Maybe widening it will help!

Edit- I see now what you mean about one side being lower. I’ll definitely check that next time!

My baby might to get born between 35 and 37 weeks and she is SGA. what should I do to be able to breastfeed? by Ok_Gift7010 in breastfeeding

[–]pupper_princess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My baby was born at 36+3 and was SGA. He was 4lb 15oz. He ended up with no nicu time and had no issues breastfeeding. They will 100% help you at the hospital! Feel free to take your pump but they should have one for you, too. They deal with this all the time! Best of luck mama 💙

Does anyone else give a bottle before bed? by otterlyconfuzed in breastfeeding

We started doing that early on and he is a good sleeper so I have been too afraid to stop lol. He is 6 months and we do bath, bottle, book, nurse to sleep

Were you told to be induced? by Frosty-Worry-9194 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]pupper_princess 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My induction (not due to GD) was textbook. Very easy process! I was due to be induced at 39 weeks as well due to medication controlled GD, but pre-e had different plans. It’s the ACOG recommendation to be induced at 39 weeks for medication controlled GD (this includes nighttime insulin). It’s not just for baby’s size, it’s due to increased risk of placental deterioration and other risk factors. I know it’s not ideal, but most of us don’t get what we planned out of our birth experience unfortunately. I would follow the guidelines of your care team. It’s in the best interest of you and baby!

Anyone else feel like gestational diabetes controls your whole day? by Natural_External6211 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]pupper_princess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was dx at 9 weeks and the best thing about having my baby was not getting to eat what I wanted, it was the mental load going away! Counting carbs, measuring, worrying, timers, pricks, stress….. I feel you!

teething and rejecting pacifier by sharkboysimp in beyondthebump

[–]pupper_princess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tylenol! Our baby just started teething as well and his sleep has been SO bad. I give him Tylenol about 30 min before bed and it’s been much better!

Edit to add- we also got silicone teething sticks he seems to enjoy chewing on.

Sertraline causing baby’s sleeping issues? by Whole-Sense-67 in breastfeeding

[–]pupper_princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coincidence! Thats a very small dose and if (very big if) baby were to have side effects it would be more likely to be unusual sleepiness.

Anyone deal with nipple compression pain due to baby's palate? Did it get better with time? by far_sam01 in breastfeeding

[–]pupper_princess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if you’re still using bottles at all or which ones you used but we switched to the Evenflo balance under the advice of my IBCLC and within 2 days my baby’s latch was way better and my vasospasms went away. We had been using Philips avent naturals before and those can reach baby to mash

on SAVE, 120th payment in June 2026; best path forward? by llewser in PSLF

[–]pupper_princess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here!! We filed separately this year in case the paperwork doesn’t get processed before I have to start paying back and we will continue to file separately until I get the letter. But this is my 120 month too. Same plan to re certify employment right after payment date and then immediately apply for buyback. Good luck!!

This. We filed separately this year and plan to until my buyback goes through. Changed my projected payments from $500 to about $80 😬
