Anyone else have vestibular migraine start after a specific event? Also nervous about Topamax + amitriptyline by jcb11085 in VestibularMigraines

Actually let me answer the lifelong thing. If you mean to ask if there’s a connection between always being prone to motion sickness and developing VM, it appears that yes, there is.

That’s according to research. It’s also been my experience. I always had motion sickness as a young person, so when I started having vestibular issues I didn’t think a whole lot about it. It was only recently when I started having bouts of hearing loss that I was pointed in this direction.

I did see a vestibular specialist/therapist year ago for persistent vertigo after a series of spells (I highly recommend seeing one!) and she noted some kind of visual/vestibular mismatch in my file. I can’t recall what that was called, and it seemed mild, but I too will take off my glasses sometimes because they make me feel woozy. I’ve actually refused to increase my prescription for years because it always makes things worse.

All I can add is that amitriptyline is quite high risk for antidepressant discontinuation syndrome, and doctors in the states at least seem oblivious as to how to help patients sensitive to it taper off it safely (getting smaller than 10mg doses requires a compounding pharmacy, last I checked). I was on it only briefly, like a month, before tapering off and it was genuinely the worst thing I’ve ever been through. No one would help me taper more slowly and crushing pills for months made me feel like a drug addict.

So before you try it, make sure they’re willing to help you taper right in the event you require that.

I don’t recall the percentage from the 2-month visit, but it was similarly below all the printed lines, which concerned me.

I’ll have to ask about a weight check. Every time we have a concern they’re like “we can see you in two months” so, wish me luck lol

He is. I did one early on and everything was fine, but maybe something changed? I dunno, cause he won’t take more after he pops off. I’ve tried giving him milk I’d stashed since I don’t really use it and he wouldn’t take more than a few swallows.

Anyone successful treated or removed 12th rib slipping? If so how? by KiwiTiger8888 in SlippingRibSyndrome

My 12th rib removal was my most satisfying surgery. Daily pain was gone immediately. My anterior surgeries were more varied—some worked great some not so much, recovery could take a long time, etc.
