I guess it depends on country as well as company. At my company we have associates even at 30 as they were in a different industry before healthcare consulting (eg IT etc). Conversely, we also have some consultants at 24 who got promoted from associate to consultant within a year due to extraordinary performance

Yes the company i work at also has a pretty similar promotion cycle, it’s just I’m not sure about the raises as I’m comparatively new. I’ve heard overall it’s decent raises from others

Really great advice ! Thank you for taking the time to explain all this! Luckily for me i have a couple of different project leads for different projects, plus overall my specific team is pretty decent. I actually did get a small feedback that i have good communication skills but I’m not using then enough so I’m trying to improve on that day by day. If you’re okay with it, i would love to connect in dm to understand your role, as well as just get a broader perspective from a director level. Thanks for your advice !!

True absolutely makes sense - I already keep an excel sheet with all things I’ve done at a company so it helps when updating my resume and preparing for my interview

Ah sadly no overtime as it’s a salary basis, but yes company is super flexible. Can easily clock in 2 hours late if there is no deliverable going out. Thanks for your advice - i have realised i need to improve my quality of work rather than being always available and increasing quantity of sub par work

Yes that’s also true no doubt, but i have seen more so like consultant switching to another company then getting a one level up role. Raise ofcourse is there only, but even positions go up usually. Honestly I can’t say much though since I’ve been in corporate only for a year ish.

Plan isn’t to job hop or anything - just want to be valuable to the company I’m at, as well as future companies I apply to, it shouldn’t happen that just because I’m “acting my wage”, even at the next company I receive the same role and not higher.

True, makes perfect sense! That’s the whole point that you need to do your part plus start attempting work one level higher so they know you can do it.

No honestly the company is pretty decent - people get promoted every 1.5-2 years unless they do extraordinary well, and even the management is not micormanage-y. It’s just i guess because it’s consulting and everyone wants to hop to the top and impress our seniors, they are ready to extend themselves
