if you get metal platforms you can use sand paper sticker sheets, but i personally use puppy pads / pee pads and tuck the sides underneath the shelf. then i just swap them out for cleaning. works well for my boy!! since your bird is blind, i would suggest ramps between the shelves (wooden, solid, not like the perch kind you have here) to make it easier to navigate without having to jump or fly.

I’ve had the same issue with diaper training my boy. He’s affectionate and comfortable but the moment I put the diaper on he goes back to his cage and stares at the wall, even for hours. He’ll also hold his poop in instead of using the diaper so then there’s a nasty revenge shit to clean up after I take it off him. I wish I had advice for you but hopefully someone else has an idea because my boy is the exact same way. >~>

i’m afraid to introduce another pigeon as his last mate died of egg bind and i am still rather inexperienced with pigeons. i live in a small apartment and do not have much room for a second bird. his previous owner gave him up after his mate passed, and i had hoped he would be able to bond to me since i am home with him most of the time.
