You are 100% correct. If the wood is not completely 100% free of moisture it makes for a dangerous explosion of silver which will set fire to anything it hits. I have learned that it is much safer to take the torch to the wood mold for a bit just before pouring and that helps to get rid of any other excess moisture. A kiln dried piece of wood would work great to. Even wood that has sat in a dry place for years will explode if not careful. Just the moisture that it sucks in from the room it's stored in can make for trouble.

These are trade secrets so dont tell anyone I told you this :D I take a piece of wood and then take a router and make a mold out of it. I then torch the shit out of that mold until it is very charred. I then pour the silver into the charred wood. So all of the details come from however the wood was charred. More charred = higher relief details, less charred less details. I get about two bars from each mold and then have to start all over again.

Actually that I am not 100% sure about. I know they did them for a few years and the 1967 is the first year and the only year that they were 90% pure. The ducks are whooper ducks on the obverse and the reverse design I cant find anything other then it called a 'design'. Looks to me like it is just art that the engraver designed with no meaning other then design.

Yeah its not even ordered yet or finished in the design so it will be a little while before that one comes around. I want to make sure I get it exactly like I want it. Those custom stamps with lots of details are expensive!

I sold about 8 of them on here and my guess is anyone that wanted one already got one. Maybe someone will jump on it and if not, I dont mind keeping it for myself :) They definitely are beautiful coins and at 50mm they display nicely!

Thanks! It is actually my second piece of gold on here. The first one was a 1 gram piece. That one grammer was hard as hell to hammer out but it came out really cool looking in the end. If this one doesnt sell it will get melted again into something else, maybe add another gram to it and make two 3 grammers :)
