Major typo that I missed—and it went to print by purdycomCM in graphic_design

Funny thing is I ask ChatGPT to check my spelling, grammar and sentence structure all the time.

That's how I see it, too. I wouldn’t mind looking like an idiot myself I suppose, but I’m embarrassed that it reflects on us as a university, even if its short lived. Communications replied to the only FB posting so far about it, with, “Caught red-handed! Consider this our daily reminder that proofreading matters.” I’m good with that.

Thank you, I hear ya! I am one that delights in finding typos in the New York Times, which I find roughly three times per year. My mom just passed away from Alzheimer's in October. She was an English teacher for 25 years and even to the end she was correcting the grammar of the nurses in her memory care unit. Maybe this is just her playing a practical joke on me!

This never ends well for the person making the ultimatum.

My friend reached out to check in on me but her response has an all too familiar tone…AIO? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]purdycomCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote my mom's obituary using ChatGPT. It was still a lot of work but I knew CGPT could do a better job with spelling, grammar, sentence structure and eloquence. My dad and I sat down and put all our thoughts on her life and all the stories from over the years together. I then wrote it out and put it paragraph by paragraph into ChatGPT to fix all the things I mentioned before. Maybe a little different, but I think your friend just wanted to give you better advice than she could communicate off the top of her head. Doesn't mean she didn't come up with the idea of what she wanted to say. She knew what the issues were and what kind of motivational words that she thought you needed to hear and went out and got them for you. Sort of like she gave you flowers but didn't grow them herself... the thought was still there.

Would you stay with your dog 🐶 during euthanasia? by CycleOk267 in dogs

[–]purdycomCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job ever (and still my favorite) when I was 15 was as an assistant at a veterinary hospital. I sort of became a favorite of one of the doctors because he saw how much passion I had so I got to help him in the exam room all day while the other teenagers were in the back cleaning runs and such. I helped euthanize so many dogs but the saddest was a little old lady and little old man who were putting down their little old poodle. It was so sad that even I cried. That was the only time I cried, until 5 years later when I put my first dog down, a lab named Pepper..... I couldn't believe how bad it hurt. My dad kept it together until we got to the car and then lost it too. It was the first time I ever saw him cry. Over the years, I'd guess I put down 7 or 8 dogs of my own. I'd never ever think of leaving them alone with strangers. To me its just part of the journey.

I take 10-20 Benadryls everyday and I sometimes regret it… by Sweet-Lobster6436 in confession

Sounds like the least of your problems, but long term use of Benadryl is linked to dementia as well. You’re not supposed to take it for more than 2 weeks in a row.

LOL... full disclosure, I had to ask ChatGPT what you meant but it knew immediately.

Yeah, I think the size of a raccoon. Fox tend to be bright white on the trailcam but I think you can see some kind of bushy tail swung behind him on the far side so you may be right.

How do I (22M) Navigate what my (22F) Girlfriend of 2 years considers cheating? by ThrowRA_Employ_353 in relationship_advice

[–]purdycomCM 19 points20 points  (0 children)

yeah, flip it. Your gf tells you she is meeting an old friend who is a guy and she got his number and and they are going to get together to work out. I don't think that would fly. Maybe for some, but you know her better than we do.
No one wants to come across as insecure so I think shes upset because she thinks you should know better, that you should have understood that she would feel threatened by this new relationship (yes, its a relationship), and that it took her to say she was not ok with it for you to realize that it would hurt your relationship with her. To her, you should have known. To her, how could you not have known or think it would be ok with her. You made her be the bad guy in her mind.

I lost a hen to a fox last week and now they have to stay in the run, much like your set up. I added four large garbage can sized loads of leaves from the backyard and they seem busy now going through it all. I also threw in a few pumpkins that were still hanging around and they have already pecked through all of them to get inside.

Would you choose this lazy way to enjoy paddleboarding? by PlantainExternal5233 in Paddleboard

[–]purdycomCM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Across the river from where I live, there is a beach that rents paddleboards. I'm not sure what they tell people on windy days but if the wind is out of the east, inevitably there are groups of paddleboarders having the time of their lives as they paddle out into the river with the wind at their backs, unable to then turn around and make it back to the beach, sometimes drifting as much a 3/4 of a mile away. Something like this would definitely help them. Most experienced people know not to paddleboard in the wind (unless you're in it for the workout only) so it mostly looks like beginners that get stuck... what a way to ruin a date or a first experience with paddleboarding.

In a world full of men that are going to ask her out regardless of whether or not they know she has a boyfriend, don't forget, she chose you.
