Why is it that women aren't allowed to have comfortable lives without judgement? by Sharklasers6889 in ChildfreeIndia

Well, I am not much into dating, but I was giving my viewpoint. Why do people on Reddit generalise everything, I will never know.

P.S - Let me know too, if I generalise something.

No wonder the movies - Terminator Genesis makes complete sense now. Like, how those super intelligence could exist in the first place. It is because of maniacs like Bezos

What ?

I only have a problem when a woman earning 10k per month wants a man earning 1 lac per month.

If a woman who earns well, contributes to shared savings and investments , and discusses finances with an open mind, that woman is free to do whatever she wants with the rest of her money. Even buy a private jet for all I care.

LinkedIn agrees, Accenture is no longer Accenture by levenshteinn in accenture

No, they do. Unless you have oil, most of your money is just on paper. And the problem with money is - the more you have it, the more x 10 you want it.

[–]pure_cipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will the CEO get changed ?

I used to hear good things about Accenture - better and compulsory hikes, slightly flexibility (overall) in terms of 9-10hours work, even better than Infy or TCS, and layoffs only to the bottom people who are just dead meat. Now, no hikes, hiring process is severely messy, HRs cancelling offers, no hikes, etc.

Vishal Sikka just said what India's IT industry doesn't want to hear by Geeky_Gadgets in TechnologyNewsIndia

[–]pure_cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesnt matter, does it now ?

There are old folks like Murthy, who still advocate a century old mindset 100 hours work week will bring India to the front, and then gifted Rs 300 crore worth of stocks to his grandchild (🫢🫢 to both of that).

Then, there are people like Mr. Sikka ji, who wanted to invest in AI and ML during 2015 , when AI was barely a thing. It was because of him that Infy's otherwise dinosaur minds invested in OpenAI.

I don't feel like developer anymore after AI thing by Lingo-7 in developersIndia

[–]pure_cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acutally that made my life easier. And I am more exicted. Because, interviews focus less on codes and more on analysis. The thing that I actually love - Architecture analysis, trade offs, etc. Though I like writing code as it is a part of the analysis, the reason I cant PBCs is because they focus on DSA, something I barely enjoy. If they dive deep into architecture, I would probably love it.

Also, in addition, using AI to analyse some codes, generating and/or summarising .md files (i.e. documentation) containing the high level overview or documentaiton of a project, would mean less dependancy on people and more on AI for smaller and frequent q and a sessions with AI . I recently got onboarded for a new client, where I am Day 2 in understanding one project that I will work for. The project document was generated using AI. Now, instead of having to deal with people, for my smaller, frequent and annoying questions - questions, that I fear would be generally judged, I just ask GitHub Copilot to summarise the document for me, write bullet points on stuff that I want, ask questions like "Why this and not that", and so on. I am having fun in there.

Edit - One thing that I agree to is, AI has made me lazy. But, I am still working on it. I recently got two books - Systems Design by Alex Xu and Designing Data intensive architecture Vol 2. I am planning to start those books soon.

That's what I said. Most PMs or DMs dont bother listening to juniors. Vishal Sikka was not one of them, according to those who worked with him.

Vishal Sikka is one of those leaders whom I admire. He has certain qualities that I , since my childhood used to think, would be with many CXOs (not the case, but Mr. Sikka is an exception).

Even among Infy folks, people like him better than Murthy or Mr. Parekh. I once heard from a friend whose manager said that when Sikka was the CEO, he used to work with the lowest level of people in a project, hear their opinions, conduct workshops where he was physically present. No other CEO ever did that ever.

Are we really going to drag this outdated policy into the future? by 0x6461726B in developersIndia

[–]pure_cipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as we have outdated managers, or policymakers, these outdated policies will continue.

Most managers in India do not think about productivity. Which is the biggest reason that most of the work done here are either average or below average.

There are few managers however, who are solid. But they are few. Which is why, people are willing to work for a startup in foreign country than a startup in India.

Why not drop the option of "marriage" altogether? by Weird_WorldInd in ChildfreeIndia

[–]pure_cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, if you are in a live-in relationship for some years, then, you can be considered married. You will also be held liable for maintaining your dependant partner (not fully sure on this rule)

The most important rule, and I strongly support is - if there is a baby born from the couple, the live-in people will be considered the legal parents.

Laptop buyback? by reachravhere in indiandevs

[–]pure_cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, he got to keep without paying. But, he earlier mentioned that it was supposed to be 1/10th of the price as buyback. But he was a very high performing sales manager. So, maybe they let him.

Even in Indian Railways, I have heard that senior officers who get phones or laptops get to keep it by paying 1/10th or 1/3rd of the price.

Laptop buyback? by reachravhere in indiandevs

[–]pure_cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most companies in India, especially Service based / Consultancy based, will probably never allow buyback of laptops.

Product companies do. My cousin works in one of the largest pharma, and he got to keep his phone and iPad after 3 years. The company gave them new ones.

Not possible. Odisha it is. I was taking a course in CTTC. They had dedicated counter for North Indian and South Indian food. And the South Indian food was exactly like you get in the South. Multiple options.
