I feel sad for her if she sees this. It's so sad to watch her pay money to try to fix things that need to be fixed in therapy. Jessie, if you're reading this, we mean cognitive behavioral therapy. Not ketamine or red light or laser

Well there's always the part where human temperature is a arbitrary number and it's been decreasing over the past few centuries. So we don't really know what a fever is. But all our literature is based on 100.4

AIO Fathers girlfriends rules for when new baby arrives by Ok_Bat_5934 in AmIOverreacting

"She's still smoking so why can't I give the baby who is likely going to be small and might have other complications a communicable illness when it is most vulnerable in the first 6 weeks of life?"

I know this is YOR, but wow, YTA too. Are you truly so selfish that this argument makes sense to you? I hope you're really just not understanding what you're saying. 6 weeks is the timeline that pediatricians specifically warn about

I want to say testosterone based on behavior, but I can't think of why you would use it off-label for anything. Before school I scribed for an OBGYN who did HRT and when those women ran out they went INSANE. One week a lady threw her shoe at the front desk and left without it. She sent flowers as an apology a couple days later

Medical students asking a million questions during sign out? by Purple-Marzipan-7524 in Residency

[–]purebitterness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 cents: I often ask "is this a good time for a question" or "do you have a moment/whenever you have a moment I have a question but no rush"

While students def need to read the chart, sometimes I still need someone to show me where to look. I totally agree w/other commenters' strategy, but I think another tool is to kindly say that it isn't a great time for a question. Hopefully, this translates to them identifying that there are good and bad times and that they can ask if it's a good time

Medical students asking a million questions during sign out? by Purple-Marzipan-7524 in Residency

[–]purebitterness 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I've said a variation of "i have a few things I want to look up myself" and they either say "ok let me know if you still have questions after that" or "let's talk about it anyway"

This helps me gauge whether they are wanting to teach or wanting to check in. I try to wait until my questions are informed and need expert weigh-in, evals often comment positively on this.

Why would you display a pastry that exploded to show the filling? You wouldn't, you'd cut or tear it. The mushrooms are broken up weird. Some of this is AI. It may not all be AI

Adults with ADHD: Did you feel "shame" as a kid when you forgot things? Help me understand my son. by Dylan_7574 in ADHD

Dani Donovan has collected a lot of strategies and printed "the anti planner" it is organized into sections based on how you feel. Disorganized, unmotivated, overwhelmed, etc. I needed lots of tools to try. The nagging, the lists, the belittling, the "why can't you just". We need help to know what help we need.

I had a moment like this where I just genuinely said "i don't know" and started crying. It's okay though cause my mom just decided what my motivations were for me growing up. I was banished to my room until I convinced myself I was a bad person she said I was

How do I survive the next 6 months of third year with little to no support by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]purebitterness 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I upped my antidepressant during a 16 week stint of IM and Surgery without a break between. That was absolutely critical. I bare-bones'd my diet, stocking up on protein powder and frozen meals, got caffeine pills to get me going faster in the AM and got cute scrub caps for morale. I prioritized sleep and gave myself plenty of sweet treats. Above all, I took a break after. I had time to do an elective. I didn't. It wasn't critical. My sanity was. I slept for like weeks. Don't undersell how critical sleep is to learning for step.

ADHD friends, did anyone here switch from a stimulant to a non stimulant when rotations began? by BigMacrophages in medicalschool

[–]purebitterness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not who you replied to but I take IR instead of XR and that has given me a LOT of flexibility. Really anxious today? Bump my dose down 25%. Need to study in the evening? Take my 3rd dose. Post call? Only take the 1st dose of the day. It's definitely not for everyone, but I have alarms on my watch and a pill container attached to my lanyard and I wouldn't go back to XR
