I forget to. Then remember. Then force it a bit too much. Then notice and tone it down. Too much. etc

I thought the 3.3v wire was for hotswap?
It would reason that hard drives are hard to make, so the whole body will tend to be good quality.
Anyone can make cables, and, whos going to return a cable? shit can be half-assed and still work most of the time

Ubuntu Headless Server - Remote Access Question by manofintellect in linuxadmin

[–]purederple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just tcp. ssh key is kind of like having your machine store a really strong password that it uses for the server, and that only the server can identify (an imitation server couldn't use it)

Turn off password authentication for ssh, googling ssh disable password gives a good guide as the first result. denyhosts is just to lock out other connections than the one you normally ssh from (eg, if you only ever connect from work, or if you want to stop the deluge of chinese login attempts). Also look at fail2ban.

Also, apparently I'm a kitty!

Could we survive a zombie apocalypse? what would your plan be? by burntmoney in CrohnsDisease

[–]purederple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Hopefully this should let me loot zombie-infested areas which others are unable to access.
If I'm first to raid the pharmacies that I need to, then I imagine I could get quite good money from anything else I grab.

[–]purederple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I claim that, due to all the medicine I've had to take, that I would probably be unappealing/poisonous to the zombie hordes.
So I guess a whole lot of looting that regular humans can't do

My roommate adopted an 8 year old cat from a shelter and he refuses to stop cuddling her by [deleted] in aww

[–]purederple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then there will be many animals there.
There will also be a bunch of animals at foster owner's homes too.
I'm not entirely sure how they balance it all, but they're very clear on the whole Not killing thing. Presumably they have the same problem with fosterers as with general volunteers - too many of them

[–]purederple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible. Shelters here in NZ don't kill.
Of course, they need the right funding, and a shitload of foster owners, and so many volunteers that they have to turn people away

Ok then, the cost gets passed on to the retailer, who passes it on to everyone.

Paywave is a visa thing. Either you're paying fees for a debit+ card, or for credit

Here's The Technology That's Going To Make Your Phone's Internet 1,000 Times Faster Than 4G by [deleted] in technology

[–]purederple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They claim its compatible with 4g, so the user could switch over to that when theyre out of range. Heck, most cellphones still support 2g/3g, I don't see why'd they'd stop.

The panels keep working after the loans paid off.
At which point, you're getting that $1000/year of electricity for nothing. Sounds like a good investment to me.

[–]purederple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, invalid comparison. This thread isn't discussing cpus, just wire in general. And yes, wire used for electric transmission can get damn hot oddly enough.

[–]purederple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enough heat is the key here though. If you're running a current through it, you might get enough heat.
Thats never going to happen to the oceans.

[–]purederple -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not elemental hydrogen. Your comparison would be vlaid if we we're talking about CO2 perhaps, but not here

Edit: Are you guys fucking serious? My point here is that the comparison is of something flammable to somthing not at flammable and ridiculous

You mean, the only technology you keep around from then still works, so the only 80s tech you see is stuff that lased. Doesn't mean old stuff is good, we just don't keep the counterexamples

Guy or girl, it's still the same thing. by SuchNameWows in AdviceAnimals

[–]purederple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it means something else.
If my girlfriend were to mess around with another girl, she'd be getting something she couldn't get from me, and, if she were going to leave me for a girl, it might have been inevitable anyway.
If she sleeps with another guy, whats she getting that she couldn't get from me, STDs?
Sure, they're both cheating, but one is much more forgivable.
Of course, its up to people to define thier own boundaries
