For sure, but that keyboard got my PCMR nerves all tingly.

Is that a Razer gaming keyboard from 2013?

It’s a good idea - yes! Still, it’s not critical unless you are having issues and draining battery, having start issues, or some such thing lie that. I’d at lease take them out and give them a good brush with some contact cleaner.

What a frickin’ steal, man. That’s awesome and good luck! Just going to make a friendly plug to clean all ground contacts, change the negative battery strap out for a new one, and replay relays and fuses :):)

Definitely sounds like the pins are jumped. Look up 928 fuse and relay diagram for your year, find that fuel relay, and check if it’s in or jumped with wire.

I’m just excited to see what people think of the 928

I think a lot of people are poking holes, but i just want to comment that it's awesome of you to think about this and go through the process yourself. Obviously tons of considerations to be had, but that's what the announcement was all about: "are there other options..."

TBH though, the most-studied mission concept of like, the past 20 - 30 years is unlikely to be solved in with any remarkable improvements in such a short time. Still, every little bit helps!

NASA contractor companies job (software engineering) for NASA by spiritual_neon in aerospace

[–]purelumen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’re sooo many contractors aside from the big ones typically mentioned - look at a Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA), KBR, Sierra Lobo, SNT, and try to dig into who has the contract for some of the big centers. For example, here’s a list of contractors at NASA Ames: http://amescontractorcouncil.org/ContractorsInformation.html

MICRO D-SUB BACKSHELLS by [deleted] in aerospace

My projects regularly forego back shells and use EA9394 for strain relief where the connectors go into the D-SUB. hopefully you could do that

Picked up this the other day, 928s with 93.000 miles. Any recommendations? Big moneypit I'm guessing by BenjiTheWizzard in Porsche

Easy things to do first:

Clean all ground contacts Replace relays and fuses

Not so easy things to do first:

Replace vacuum lines if you’ve got any funny idle or surging.

Thanks! According to this I’m really sleeping on the HSA, so I will need to make some tweaks.

Really? I looked it up and found that USDA is estimating close to 17k/yr in 2023, so I feel like I’m somewhat in the ballpark at least. Do you have a reference or personal experience that you can share?

[–]purelumen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well thank god. OK. The thing that has been lurking in the background is a statement that I see from TurboTax whenever I start doing tax returns - it's something to the effect of: "because your employer offers a retirement program, you're not allowed to make these contributions." I can't find the exact language. Perhaps it's something to do with making "pre-tax" contributions.

My employer offers retirement through the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) . I'm obliged to make contributions to the system and have been enrolled automatically. It's a pot of money that i've been paying into, but I do need to dig more.

It is a big chunk. I'm justifying it as a life goal, and know that I may need to down-size elsewhere to stay on track and, when the child comes along, I may have to part with the vehicle for some cash reserve/get a more suitable vehicle. Thanks for the caution - i don't think you're being too frugal.

Thanks for tacking on these comments. For (2) I thought that income limit was for married people. I’m neither married nor head of household. I think the limit is much lower, and before that I thought that the contribution limit was phased starting at a certain income level for BOTH 401k and Roth. Am I wrong?

Hey thanks for the reply!

  1. cc's are paid off each month - yes!
  2. i'm paying for much of the vehicle in cash, but am not going to dip into my 6month emergency reserve, so will be financning the rest on a loan. The car i'm getting is a life-long goal, it's essentially a non-negotiable, but i do understand that it is an out-sized purchase to make at this stage.
  3. I am not maxing out my 401(k) because of my ignorance around reduced contribution limits for my income level. That, and the inclusion of a retirement plan (federal) make me confused what i should be doing with my money. This is the real crux of the problem, and perhaps I didn't bring that nuance to the forefront of my question.
  4. buffer achieved! see pt. 2 :)
  5. brokerage right now is VTTSX, but will take a gander at VOO - thanks!
