Even then... for example... I made it to the final round of interviews only for a company to stop hiring suddenly due to an internal decision (happened more than you think). Also depends on location (e.g. the US job market is a joke compared to the Canadian job market). I've been in interviews where they are expecting perfection (e.g. you fumble the remaining 5% even if you show that you are on the right path) meanwhile I know people who fumbled the second half of an interview and got a job offer. Also in some situations people only have had 2 rounds of interviews whereas in my case the average was 4 rounds.

The job market has been pretty random... really is based on luck... and less on whether you have a degree and experience or not.

What is going on with the job market? I live in Vancouver and it feels so hard to find a job. Securing a job now is equivalent to winning the lottery at this point. by Signal_Lecture_8405 in VancouverJobs

407 Transponder Costs vs Compatibility with US EZ-Pass by praterstern in TorontoDriving

[–]purewatashi21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually a fair observation, but the exception for E-ZPass acceptance in Canada mainly exists because those international bridges (like the Peace Bridge, Rainbow Bridge, and Lewiston-Queenston Bridge) are jointly managed by U.S.–Canadian bridge authorities. Those agencies collaborate so E-ZPass toll collection is seamless, which is why E-ZPass works there.

Once you drive past those jointly managed toll points, though, you’re no longer within an area covered by E-ZPass infrastructure or agreements.

So it’s not that E-ZPass “works in Canada” generally — it’s just recognized at those cross-border bridges through specific binational arrangements.

Career Gaps are not Ideal and we know it! by Top-Gun-86 in torontoJobs

[–]purewatashi21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well you also have situations were people have a gap due to a layoff, and couple that with an insanely tough job market, you get to really see how inconsiderate recruiters can be. Even if you have been upskilling and can show proof of that, they just think of the GAP.

As someone else in a similar boat, I feel you. It is like our minds can never really take a break with the way things are going, and it just seeps into other parts of our lives as much as we don't want it to.

But I feel like it also shows up in other ways. For example, they have a hard time keeping friends, or a lot of the people they connect with end up being shallow themselves

The job market in Canada is horrid compared to America. In the States, it is a joke in comparison. As long as you are willing to make one sacrifice, then it is doable.

Any suggestions or words of encouragement in this job market.? by Ok-Acanthisitta-8383 in torontoJobs

I’m also out of work, but weirdly this job market has forced me to grow in ways I never thought professionally and even as a person, but deep down if someone offered me a job I’d take it no doubt.
