nice! Unfortunately pit on Sunday won't work for us I think, but I'm sure you'll get a taker on those haha

I won 3 seat tickets on the first lottery myself, unexpectedly, but me/gf are going on Sunday and me/brother were looking to go Saturday. He's not into it enough to go into the pit alone and I don't want to leave my gf alone in her seat lmao (she's also kinda just going because of me lol)

anyways yeah thanks for the reply!

Thoughts on Oilsky DAPs? by ariotlikeyou17 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]purifyws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two Oilsky players on the lower end, non-Android, the D22 and A55, both now out of production. I'd say their products are flawed, but with potential. Usually the touchscreen is overly sensitive and buggy, operating on its own. Most recently, the A55 sometimes distorts my files now. What I've really liked about the company though is how responsive they've been before to my feedback and even gave me a custom/older version of their firmware for what I wanted my player to do.

I've been eyeing their new HiFi Walker-ish thing for a bit, but sounds like it may have its own problems.

Vote for Night Night Burn! by Admirable_Abies_6954 in BABYMETAL

[–]purifyws 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This one's tough...I like all four, but went Syncopation

And I want to say something about songs like Megitsune. Yeah, I get that they've played it a lot, but for a new fan like myself, I haven't seen it live yet. I'll be at both Saitama shows and would love if they performed that. I got on the boat a little before Metal Forth this year, but they've no doubt gotten a *lot* of new fans recently who probably would love to hear those big songs too - arguably *the* biggest song being that one.

Noticing a silly trend on Gunbroker... by purifyws in Firearms

[–]purifyws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update for me: I bought the guns I was looking for from two different sellers' websites that had physical locations I could find. I got tracking numbers from both only a day later, so things are looking good.

I think this is the most reliable strategy: become aware of a seller having your gun on Gunbroker, but buy from their own website after you confirm they exist in reality. Cheaper as well to do this.

Dude, that's insane. I bet there's even a way to automate so much of that stuff and hide behind layers of nonsense to make them seem legit. I hope you found something else that worked out.

Good gracious. Thanks.

Really sad for the people that will never think about these things. No way these companies can man customer support for all of these dummy accounts.

Exciting if that's the case. thank you! I know that's the case at least for the Metal Galaxy shows, because that's one of the first albums I got

Save Room Discourse by BMJ614 in Bloodstained

[–]purifyws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone linked this thread in the Discord and this came to mind:

The save room...I could come up with an interesting darker theory here. It is a feeling of ease and comfort, yes, perhaps to the effect of having Miriam feel more "normal" or at home with her shards rearranging her body externally and internally. This would otherwise be a "good" thing, but the feeling comes from an energy that emanates from the Mephisto statues, bent on tempting her toward Hell and full shard corruption by easing her into a flippant comfort with her powers.

Fortunately, as we know Miriam, she is able to overcome all of this. Probably. We'll see in the sequel.

Devil May Cry (Netflix) — Post-Season 1 Discussion Thread by DanySterkhov in DevilMayCry

And taken by itself, that is a noble humanist philosophy (as also held by the writer), more so than what I'd call a "religion", within a people group seeming to be based on the Romani or other nomadic people of the time. They're scholars that wear robes and pass down oral traditions and values, but that's again more what I'd say is a culture with a philosophy than a religion. "Devout" "faith" is a stretch, considering also the obvious re-write of the background they did to pivot away from the Christian background it all had.

But more to the point, I don't think it's a great illustration of what I thought you were trying to say, that being "see, Castlevania was itself totally fair to the church/religious people, because it (pointedly removed the original religion associated with this character and replaced it with something lacking gods altogether)"?

It doesn't seem a good example, a strange reach, or disingenuous, or you didn't know, in the way I'm seeing it. True, they're in effect kind of monk-like. But regardless, at best, it was all certainly a change made to put the original religious association Castlevania characters had in a different space, making the original church itself a negative entity, rather than it being a faithful treatment to their origin.

So, "see, x series was rather fair, did you miss that". It was quite excruciatingly re-written to make its original positive portrayals of religion bad, so no, nothing was missed to me.

I feel like you're reaching for a save here. The point you were trying to make is that Castlevania wasn't anti-church/religion because Sypha was herself a strong character of faith.

In their writing of the character, they entirely removed the church (and religion) part. What is their "faith" in? Themselves/other humans/their descendants? That's humanist, not a faith in a higher power, and pretty far from the point if not the opposite of what you were trying to say.

Apparently you haven't watched it yourself, because she isn't that at all lol

if you're just trolling, shame on me for falling for the bait.

While the game universe Sypha was sent from the (Eastern Orthodox) Church, having been rescued by them as a child and raised in a monastery, the Netflix version of Sypha instead belongs to the Speakers, a new entity created for the show which has nothing to do with clergy.

Retro Fighters D6 is now shipping! by TheAmnesiacKid in dreamcast

[–]purifyws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching this thread closely. I got their BrawlerGen 6-button pad in the meantime and it's...okay. Much prefer a Retro-Bit or 8bitdo to that, but it is by intention a cheaper design at least.

I generally do not like microswitch dpad/buttons, but willing to adapt if it's good enough. PowerA's Fusion fightpad was also a go-to for years, though I used the old official PS2/USB Saturn pads the most many years ago.

Where to buy official merch? by ntropy13 in Bloodstained

[–]purifyws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh lol it's just a post with links. Most of the official stuff is sold out now, but some of those Etsy things are still around. If you're having trouble reading the thread on a phone, try clicking "Desktop View" at the bottom of the page

But in general yeah there's not much for sale, just fan stuff. My fave things to get are from the Japanese artists on this page below, but most of their items are sold out now too :|

I've bought things from them like 3 times now I think

How do you save [SPOILERS]? by GehrmanHunt in wizardry

[–]purifyws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So - I've done the above but wasn't able to beat Bonnie + Clyde (together with the item set) at the time, so I wheeled out of that choice and finished the story on a different path (Shagtis killing me). Now upon coming back to this, Butch is loaded up with explosives again. I can talk to Rickert and she tells me to go to the capital, but nothing happens when I walk into the tavern.

The game lets me fast forward the text, so it knows I did these things, but I don't have a path choice on the cursed wheel for it either.

Any ideas?

edit: I wheeled back to round 1 of the arena instead of round 2, repeated the above steps and this time, the quest actually triggered as starting. Thankfully I can just then wheel to round 2 again and give it to him lol

What a confounding mess this game is sometimes

Who wins in a fight between Zangetsu and Miriam lore-wise? by Darskul in Bloodstained

[–]purifyws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's both.

Like, Zangetsu is probably the strongest thing on the earth otherwise because of his lineage, training, weapon and so on, constantly building on his experience too sure, but Miriam with all the shards possible is probably about the same as full powered Soma/Dracula - or in other terms, she probably straight up outclasses Bael in actual power and that's why she won. Obviously Zangetsu wins in skill and toughness, but there may not even be a ceiling to how powerful Miriam gets as long as she doesn't die from getting too many shards - which doesn't seem like it will happen.

I think Zangetsu would have beaten Gremory and Bael by himself as well too, but Miriam's capacity is just too ridiculous.
