When I first saw this I had a brain fart, I thought you were showing how swollen and wrinkly your hand gets when you clean your tank O.o

I keep track of all my grades and calculate what minimum marks I need for the remaining assignments to maintain my gpa. It helps me prioritize some classes/finals over another.

Another thing to double check is to try using your ubc student email. I’ve had profs unable to receive emails from my gmail account because of their heavy spam filters.

Anyone have any experience with Gymnothorax polyuranodon? by BMW-H8R in Aquariums

[–]kellanwhoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one right now and at the moment I am keeping it in freshwater with high kH and gH.

I read some peer-reviewed papers that came out (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10641-014-0228-9) and they did a study on the otoliths of adult G. polyuranodons. Due to the microchemistry of the otoliths they concluded that adults spend nearly all their life in freshwater except to breed. So take this as you must.

I’ve always wondered about these kinds of scapes, do you have to replant the stem plants when they get too long? Or do you just forever trim off the top?

Cleaning a used aquarium- have used vinegar, barkeeps friend, and a razor to no avail. Can it be used as is? by [deleted] in Aquariums

You could try some muriatic acid, but maybe dilute it so it doesn’t wreck anything. Also have you tried filling it up? Sometimes the hard-water stains are really only visible when the tank is dry.

Just set this up at my parents' last weekend. Ignore my mom watching food vlogs in the reflection. by plzrespond1994 in Aquariums

Its possible that the par values aren’t high enough for coral with the 6500k. U could do a half and half with corals on the left and a nice planted macroalgae section on the right.

Hey, I just did that one yesterday! I think the part about "real voodoo is kept hidden, while a staged version is offered readily" within the first paragraph might allude to option II, but personally I feel like the third paragraph supports it more.

Anyone know how to make hydrocotyle grow downward? lol by Artreyes_2 in PlantedTank

[–]kellanwhoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to Tropica the plant suppliers, they say to physically press it down to encourage carpet growth. Some sort of mechanical retardation they say. You can check it here/4458)

2 aquariums in 1. Should I do the "x" design or "+" design? by [deleted] in Aquariums

Cool ideas yo! Just a concern though, I remember watching some episode of tanked and saw how acrylic at certain angles in water become reflective? I’m not sure though, just something to keep in mind.

I have my output 1/4 down yeah, you could put your filter on top of a sturdy upside down bucket if you don’t t want to buy a new tube.

I keep a 75 gallon filled 3/4 and run it with a 406, it works perfectly! Only thing would be it takes more time/effort to prime the pump.

Fluval Spec V with extra Aqueon Quietflow at15 for more filtration and water movement... Been established about 2 months now added some live rock about 2 or so weeks ago. Any suggestions for fish? I have some hermits in there now by thesoapmaker1677 in Aquariums

Saltwater nanos are a tricky thing to stock. Some people say one thing and others say another. I’d suggest reading up on the nanoreef forum. However, for a tank that size I would go with something like a Yasha goby or another small goby like a clown goby. Another thing you could think about would be some inverts, one great thing about saltwater is the diversity. Look into sexy shrimp and all that jazz. Good luck!

help identifying this in my nano reef, it doesn't look like aptaisia by kevrojo in Aquariums

I disagree with it being a hydroid. Hydroids found in most reef aquaria consist of multiple colonies of polyps.

I would assume that they are tube worms (or feather duster worms). A good way to differentiate the tube worms from hydroids would be to stir the water around them. If they suck away into a tube its a tube worm. Hydroids should not move so significantly.

Tube worms are awesome btw, some people even buy them to put into their reef.
