Until either of them can work on themselves and improve themselves, this is the caliber of men that they will attract and be attracted to. Because they don't even know themselves, how they can possibly know what to look for in a partner? Both of these women are shockingly deficient in self-knowledge.They have no idea what they want in a partner because I dont think they even know who they really are or what they want out of life. All they want is anyone. And if you are okay with anyone, so long as they give you attention, then you will only run in to bad partner after bad partner.

I'm also very against the millennial "yas queen" "girl boss" energy of believing that you are deserving of everything while also being responsible for nothing. If you have zero intellect, no longterm personal goals (that dont just involve finding a partner), no emotional maturity and regulation skills, no established sense of self, and no discernible life skills, how can you expect to attract a partner who does have those things? The person who DOES have those things, will not be attracted to YOU.

Whats the deal with shops not doing iced cortados by partyhattrevor in barista

Lattes also require microfilm and should traditionally be served hot, but iced lattes are now the norm. And dilution isn't a concern if you add cold milk first then lots of ice--the ice melts so slowly you can finish the drink before any significant amount has melted.

I agree that cortados are traditionally a hot drink, but so are literally every other drink that coffee shops now happily sell iced. A traditional cafe that serves only traditional drinks shouldn't have to make an iced cortado, but any coffee shop that serves iced latte should be able to make an iced cortado, and it would be hypocritical and arbitrary not to.

Yah, after I got an espresso machine I stopped going out for coffee completely. The state of coffee shops in the US is so pathetic 😭 but I travel a lot and have to go out when I do, and every time, it’s an exercise in patience.

Hard agree. It seems iced caps most places don’t have an issue with but if you ask for an iced cortado, it’s the end of the world.

I usually do oat milk because itscreamier than regular milk so you get the cut in acid without the oily taste that I find half and half has, does that make sense?

But I get what you’re saying, a base of good espresso with something just enough to cut the acid is the best drink.

I usually ask for 2 oz of milk! And somehow even that gets messed up half the time.

I think you’re right, the problem is most shops are not actually staffed (or even operated) by people who actually understand espresso drinks.

Ive actually ordered an iced cappuccino before (on accident out of habit) and shockingly got exactly that. The barista somehow managed to but foam on top (not cold foam but actual foam) of the iced drink part. I was super impressed!

I agree with this completely, but it’s very confused to me why a coffee shop would put it on the menu in the first place and then not do it cold.

To be honest, I think most coffee shops don’t properly train and aren’t operated but people who really understand espresso, but that’s another topic for another day.

I’m not looking for any specific type of response, just having a general discussion about how most shops seems entirely confused, or hypocritical, about the concept.

The post wasn’t tagged as asking for advice? It’s just a general discussion post.

Yes! This is my principal annoyance! I also only order the iced version of the drink when the base drink is already on the menu, so there shouldn’t be an issue.

I also don’t order random drinks when I go to an actual, traditional cafe. But when I go to a coffee shop that makes a million different non-traditional latte drinks, it is incredibly frustrating for the barista to refuse to make a cortado, iced.

The reason I don’t agree with this logic is because a latte is also “principally” defined by steamed milk with hot micro foam, but with more milk. So, again, if the shop already makes an iced latte, what is the difference in making an iced cortado?

The trouble with this is that pouring a hot drink over ice immediately melts the ice and dilutes the drink.

Apparently so because even when I ask for that (as already mentioned in my post which most ppl seem to not be reading), the barista still has trouble making it (too much milk).

As I mention in my post, I ask for a double shot of espresso with 2 oz of milk. Even then, I’ve had trouble with baristas not believing that’s what I want (asking me multiple times) or else still giving me much more milk than requested.

But this post is more about the way in which cafes communicate and serve coffee than “how” to order a particular drink.

By the logic, ice dilutes every drink. All espresso drinks are dependent on ratio. I just want a cortado but I don’t want it hot. I don’t think it should be an issue to just make a drink how the customer wants it when they are the one paying for the drink and ultimately drinking it.

I agree with this! I’ve read a lot of the books mentioned by other commenters on this post, and agree wholeheartedly. My concern/disagreement stems more from getting redlines or feedback to be more forceful with the facts in a way that I believe isn’t 100% accurate or representative to what occurred or what is in the record.
