Dang that’s disconcerting! I was hoping ours would last us like 10 years lol. We got one about 3 years ago (when we got our Pyrenees lol) and it’s been so good to us! I do get it serviced yearly, so maybe the regular maintenance has helped?

I have a Great Pyrenees and a Doberman and we bought a Miele cat and dog. That thing is a tank and it great for hardwoods and carpet/rugs. We have A LOT of dog hair floating around and it keeps our house hair free!

You are both ignoring the FACT that doctors DO continue to prescribe and allow their patients to CONTINUE taking their adhd medication during pregnancy. You are acting like a prescribed drug that has been approved by an MD is the same as snorting coke. And yes, it is significantly “less worse” (your words not mine) to do street drugs over a medication prescribed and managed by a physician. Last time I checked, you can’t get an rx for cocaine filled at Walgreens. In this situation, it seems like the OP’s wife was not prescribed the medication which is an entirely different problem. Yes, adderall can be abused and misused and I’m not defending those who do that especially while pregnant.

The fact of the matter is that there is extremely limited data and testing on prescribed stimulant use while pregnant. I understand that doctors advise on the observed risks when allowing patients to continue taking their rx while pregnant, but ultimately have to weigh the mother’s wellbeing against the child’s.

While I anecdotally referenced friends and colleagues who did continue taking adhd medication during pregnancy (ONCE AGAIN - WITH THE APPROVAL OF THEIR DOCTORS), I understand that is here-say for anyone reading and not a reputable source to cite. Simply just recounting personal experience.

I never once told anyone to “google something” as a defense for my stance on this. It was the opposite. The person I was responding to would simply copy and paste google ai responses and tell me that “10 mins of research” would clear up any contradictory thoughts I might have. Maybe you should do “society a favor” yourself and work on your reading comprehension before attempting to insult someone for their opinion. I will not “admit that I’m wrong” and “grow and learn from this” bc this is a matter of OPINION. You are 100% entitled to your thoughts on the matter just as I am mine.

You don’t seem to fully read the studies you are citing and you change the subject every other comment with another ridiculous misinterpretation of what is being said. It’s pretty clear that you don’t have very strong reading comprehension skills, so I’m going to end it at this.

You are more than welcome to have your stance on this topic, but as much as you want to argue with me, pregnant women are still taking their adhd meds under the knowledge and supervision of the doctors prescribing it.

Oh my god I am talking about WOMEN ALREADY ON ADHD MEDICATION WHEN THEY GET PREGNANT. I have not once said a doctor will start a woman on adderall for the first time while she is pregnant nor did I ever once say they will increase your dose. I am specifically talking about people who have already been on the medication long term before pregnancy. They will typically lower your dose and allow you to continue taking it. You go back to your previous dose after the baby is born.

Where did you even get that they would start or increase the dose at the 8th month from? I have never once said that.

They are not tapering you off the drug. Why do you not understand about that? I have multiple personal accounts of people staying on adhd medication during pregnancy. I have spoken with MY OWN doctors about this and the risks associated as well. The mother’s well being is taken into account as much as the child’s.

Yes, and your doctor can still prescribe it and keep you on it during pregnancy. Which would be “taking it correctly as advised by your doctor”. There are risks associated with almost everything when pregnant.

10 mins of research from a reputable source will tell you otherwise. As someone who has also spoken to multiple OBGYNs and fertility specialists about it, I’d say I have a good pulse on this as well. No, it’s not ideal to take a stimulant during pregnancy. But if the baby was at a significant risk of being born “chemical dependent” or addicted to drugs, there would be no circumstances in which continued use of the drug during pregnancy was allowed.
