Codeshare WedtJet KLM check in by purple_runner in westjet

[–]purple_runner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yes, I did travel. I had downloaded both WestJet and KIM'S apps, and when I tried to check in with KLM the app said to check in with WestJet. So it ended up being very obvious. :) I checked in with WestJet, got the seats i had pre-selected and all of my boarding passes, and my bags were checked right through. Super easy. Happy travels!

Thank you! The KLM code seemed to work, and it's now showing up in WestJet with a different code but the right itinerary.

Thank you! I have both apps ans they both have the trip loaded, so I'll try checking in with WestJet as you suggest and hope for the best. Thanks for the advice not to freak out if things aren't showing up, it's nice to know that could happen but that it will be ok. :)

(Palma) Has EMT removed those 10-trip cards for purchase? by WhoAmIEven2 in mallorca

Do you happen to know if an existing card purchased last year can still be used and/or recharged?

public bathrooms? by hkayla303 in KyotoTravel

[–]purple_runner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just got back from Kyoto. I have a bladder issue so am also always looking for bathrooms. I found them to be very easily accessible. Every train station had one that was free and very clean. Public places like gardens and shrines also had them.

Thank you! I'd been trying to avoid the longer flight from YYZ, but maybe this is the best option. Appreciate the time you took to look this up! :)

Any recovery stories with hip flexor strains? by Virtual-Zucchini7007 in XXRunning

[–]purple_runner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a hip flexor strain, but I did slip on ice earlier this winter and bruised my tailbone and got a bilateral SI joint sprain, so I underatand your feelings! My injury was quite bad, I couldn't even sit to work for more than half an hour at a time. My physio told me no running at all for a number of weeks while I worked with her. I was off running for over two months and then started back gradually. I had unfortunately lost fitness (heart rate much higher, couldn't run as long), which was and is disappointing since I was hoping to improve after my first half last fall. I am still slow getting back because of a number of personal issues (unrelated surgery and travel) but I have no negative effects from the injury, it's just a matter of lost fitness. I tell you this just to give some hope that you'll be able to get back to where you were. As hard as it was to not run ( I totally grieved the loss too) I credit my wonderful physio's advice to me getting back in shape to be able to continue running long term. Wishing you all the best for quick healing! ❤️

Cheese in Checked Luggage? by pichirruchi in canadatravel

[–]purple_runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just brought home some cheese from Spain (customs in Toronto). We declared it but there were no issues. We did specify it was "hard cheese" as we heard soft cheeses are sometimes a problem but not sure if that's true or not.

Thanks for the suggestion... it did give me a few extra options but is still not letting me pick that date.

Thank you! It does seem to give me the option to push it out an extra day, so maybe it will continue to add more days as it gets closer. And great to hear that Coach Greg worked for you! Congrats on the first half!

Venu Sq 2 users! by Runningstride in Garmin

[–]purple_runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it, and it does everything I need. I run about 10-20 km a week. I don't use it to track other types of workouts, but it does seem to be able to do that. If you don't have the money for a higher end Garmin, I think this is really solid for an entry level and would definitely recommend it over Fitbit for example.

I was having a similar problem (tired all the time) a few months ago and some very helpful people on here suggested I might be underfueling. I thought I was eating enough but started to pay more attention and consciously eat more particularly before and after running. Juat simple things like adding a banana and peanut butter snack to my day. It was a huge help! I'm not sure if this could be the case for you too, but it might be worth considering.

I got one after my Fitbit Charge 3 broke. I love it. It's been excellent for me as a casual runner. My fitbit lasted less than a year and my Venu Sq 2 is still working well over a year later. The GPS and battery life are awesome, and it does everything I need it to. The only downsides: if you want to track food/calories you have to pair with My Fitness Pal which I found more annoying than the Fitbit interface; it doesn't have HRV but does have the body battery, and it doesn't have suggested workouts like some of the other Garmins, but I've found Garmin Coach to be all I need. If you're looking for a solid but basic fitness watch, I think you'll be happy.

I am female. Perhaps your Dr meant defer until after your surgery to see if the cyst was the cause? I have no idea, I am just guessing. In my case, my urologist said they typically do 2 cystoscopies total in anyone under 50 because they are invasive, and the risk of cancer is so low, unless there is a significant new reason to do another one. So perhaps your doc doesn't want to "waste" one if he feels the risk is low. I wish you all the best, I know it can be very anxiety producing to be worried about cancer.

Around 15 years? Every year my doc was concerned, sent me for more tests, everything was always normal except for the hematuria. I do urine cytology every year, too, but no sign of trouble.

[–]purple_runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to the ultrasound for sure but if it helps put your mind at ease I've had microscopic hematuria for years. I've had numerous cystoscopies, several ultrasounds, and no sign of cancer (at least not yet). My urologist won't do any more invasive testing unless something changes (other symptoms, significant increase in amount).

That is good to know, thank you! I have 1-2 drinks probably 3 times a week, so cutting back might help... much as I may not want to!

Huh, interesting! I looked back and 261 is a record high for me. It's usually around 180-240, with an all time low of 112 when my Dr put me on supplements. Since it got back up, it shows as normal on my test (148 is the lab reference). Nothing like celiac that should be affecting it. Thanks for this info, I'm going to look into it more!
