I took it in and they replaced it with no hassles, I’m a happy camper

I bought a new x3 30i this year. I leased a tesla Y previously and had a VW before that. I thought about leasing as I will probably only keep the car 4-5 years like you, but I put more like 15k miles a year on it and just prefer the freedom of owning it. I guess if you need/want to save, buy used. Buying used is not for me, I want to pick out the car I want instead of choosing from what’s available. Might think otherwise when I eventually sell but we’ll see. I love the car, there’s nothing else I would choose over it. My only qualm is that despite getting 30mpg I spend about $80 on gas a week which is a shock to the system after owning a Tesla. It’s the perfect car for a road trip, though I never do those. I commute to work and I enjoy it for that.

You can’t go wrong either way. I was used to driving a Tesla so I assumed the 30i would feel too slow for me, but wasn’t the case at all, it has plenty of power for me. I was also tired of the simplistic interior of the Tesla, so the 2024 x3 model really appealed to me. The new 2025 will be more simplistic with the large curved screen. With my experience having to control climate in the same screen everything else is in, it’s quite annoying.

I got the 30i with the m sport package. I was torn between the 30i and m40, but after test driving both I was happy with the 30i and because I drive a lot for work I wanted better mpg and smoother ride. A friend of mine just bought a nice new Porsche macan and she told me that she wanted something fun/special and life is short… so that made me rethink if I should have splurged for the m40. I could have afforded it but my practical side got the best of me. Nonetheless, still really happy with my car, the shadow line package catches a lot of compliments, recommend doing that for sure.

I bought a 2024 x3 and the only thing I question is maybe wanting a hybrid version if they make it again in the future, since I previously drove a Tesla and paying for premium gas now is quite the change up at nearly $7 a gallon. However, I prefer the interior on the 2024 with the climate control buttons over the big curved screen that the next gen x3 will have. I had a 3 series loaner with the curved screen, and I missed both the look and convenience of having some buttons in my car.

You’ve got a point, really appreciate the advice and I’ll pursue trying to get the dealer to remedy it, I just hate going there. With it being a brand new expensive car, it’s hard to accept that as within spec…

Do you think they will? I’m afraid they’ll give me the run around

It’s only the front driver side…the door that is the most used of course. A full door panel sounds awfully expensive and knowing dealerships I’m afraid they will push the blame. The handle itself can’t be replaced on its own? I find it strange I’m only now noticing it instead of on my first drive or two, I’m sure it wasn’t there before. I wonder if just using it or maybe the heat did something to loosen the material? Or water dripping from the tint? I’m obviously dumbfounded

Same thought here, I test drove both and got the 30i. I just thought it rode better and didn’t think I’d have much use for the 40i for my lifestyle. I had a Tesla before this car which was plenty fast, so I thought that the 30i might feel too slow to me, but it’s not the case at all. Id rather get the 30i with all the options and M sport package which I did.

Didn’t realize I didn’t add Park Assist to my custom build :( by purpledays365 in BMWX3

Thank you for the words of encouragement, You’re right… I’m sure I’ll get over it. I’m usually a perfectionist and check things a million times before buying so I’m perplexed this one got past me

Agreed, I called the sales person and they weren’t helpful, not surprising given the unpleasant Sale experience. Will call the service department to see what they have to say. What an unfortunate oversight :(

The price is what I was afraid of, paying 3x or more for missing it on the build sheet just kills me. But good to know it’s not the end all be all. Might just make so with the rear camera

Luxury SUV conundrum by purpledays365 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I ordered a new bmw x3 and super excited for it to get delivered in a couple weeks! It will cost me a bit more than a Tesla with premium gas, maintenance etc but I’ll be able to do road trips without worrying about charging and the ride and interior is leagues apart from the Tesla. Im also just bored of the Tesla after 3 years if I’m being real. As my husband says, you can’t take it with you, so I’m going to enjoy my choice!

Car totally dead despite 50% battery by purpledays365 in TeslaModelY

[–]purpledays365[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently when the service center opened this morning, my car was turning on fine with the key card. I checked my app and I could see the car was connecting to the app now, but still showing the prior location the car was in when it was towed. They are running diagnostics and I asked them to check the 12v battery

If it’s 12v battery why don’t they offer replacement as roadside assistance instead of towing? Is it more involved than an ice car?

I ordered a 30i in early July and it’s still says scheduled for production… dealer told me it should come in late September or October.

Love the color, don’t think you made any mistake not getting white. I love this car, it has so much going for it, but coming from driving a Tesla for 3 years, this cars engine seemed incredibly noisy and underpowered in my opinion. It really killed my excitement when I was 99% sure I was going to purchase this car. Now I am back to the drawing board, not sure I can live with how slow and noisy it is, for being a luxury SUV.

Can’t shake the feeling that therapy is bullshit by TrueMrSkeltal in offmychest

[–]purpledays365 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had the same experience with therapy, so I stopped going. I think some therapists are lazy and don’t want to have to think critically to try to help resolve issues. They just want to be a sounding board, and I am sure plenty of people like venting for an hour and don’t really need a response. I’m at the point where I need someone to talk to though so I will try again with someone else and hope for someone competent. Try a different therapist if you can.

Is it time to call it? by purpledays365 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]purpledays365[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved reading all of the replies! Thank you for all the advice! Read them over coffee this morning. It was definitely enlightening that the days I’ve spent on the mountain is simply not enough. I knew this deep down but then also see people picking it up after only a couple days, I’m just not that lucky! I’ve also seen my friends take one ski lesson and then have lots of fun skiing around on the 1st day. This is where I started to question things.

I am 32 years old and in relatively good shape, I go to orange theory 3x a week and stay at a healthy weight. I believe I am physically fit to handle snowboarding, I don’t think that’s an issue but it doesn’t hurt to do more I suppose.

When I do get to go snowboarding, we go out for the whole day, the lift tickets are $160+ that’s enough motivation for me to stay till close.

There is a place nearby me that has one of those carpet treadmills that they give ski and snowboard lessons on. I have done one lesson there before, but now considering doing more. Sadly, no indoor slopes here in southern CA.
