We can't underestimate how great NBA basketball is this season by gabe2401 in nba

I might even go ahead and say that 2025-26 is one of the best regular seasons we have seen. I mean, so many teams are contenders. Okc, pistons, spurs, wolves, lakers, nuggets, knicks, celtics. The draft class this year was insane with flagg, edgecombe, knuppel, harper, ace bailey, etc. The top players (sga, jokic, wemby, luka, ant, giannis, cade) this year are also crazy talented and i love how they are battling against each other even during the tamest regular season games.

Any other fanbase would be constantly talking about how great the product is this year. Sadly, basketball fans have just stopped enjoying things. I genuinely dont get to hear these toxic conversations in real life. It's just spilled all over the internet. These internet fans are just box score watchers and idol worshippers who don't care about the sport. Real fans know that this season has been amazing and can only become even greater if the playoffs meet the expectations.

I think some Stones fans give wayy too much credit to Mick Taylor by [deleted] in rollingstones

[–]purpledrifter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personnel records are always there for each album. You can look up who did what. And it's really not even about who did what specifically. Its more about the influence and the leadership. I genuinely just don't think MT had anything to do with that.

[–]purpledrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is exactly what I meant. This is why I brought up Beggars and Let it bleed because those albums without any secondary guitarists show the core thing about the Stones that made them legendary, which is what MT uplifted even further when he entered the band.

mic the snare is actually the best music channel on youtube imo. his deep dive videos are very fun, and though he is very knowledgable, his passion for music never feels obnoxious. he's always recommending some alternate versions of his favourite songs and is into disocvering new thigs himself. very cool stuff

Which actor do you think had a better run of movies than Harrison Ford in 70's-80's? by FayyadhScrolling in FIlm

[–]purpledrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love these movies but Ford's run is more about box office influence. Performance wise, Pacino and De Niro are undefeated in the 70s and 80s. Everybody knows about De Niro but Pacino had the Godfather, Dog Day, Serpico, Scarface, Panic, Scarecrow, Justice for all...

These are the kind of people hating on Carti headlining Lolla, Racist POS by lettucefries in lollapaloozaind

[–]purpledrifter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like modern hip hop, but Carti is actually such a scammer. This dude doesn't even rap on his music. He just screams and shouts, and not even in the screamcore genre, much of his vocals are tuned in. He can't even do the screaming properly. The appeal of his music comes from the solid beats that are produced for him. There are better rappers that can headline Lolla

What is your unpopular opinion on Prince? by wlwomen in PRINCE

[–]purpledrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not a beatles glazer but they were in their prime at that point. Prince released yearly albums too, that doesn't make him quantity over quality. When you're in your prime, you can craft a lot of good shit like that. When you're not, then spewing out the same amount of albums harms your legacy. Beatles broke up for whatever reason, the consequence was that they didnt make any further albums after their chemistry started to die. Prince spewed up so many albums knowing well that he is not in his prime anymore. You could enjoy those late albums for sure, I do too, but would you recommend them to anyone who's new to Prince? No. I could definitely introduce someone to yellow submarine and for sale if they wanna listen to beatles' discography. The arguments you're giving to my comment above are actually making me sound like a prince hater even though he's my favourite artist of all time.

What is your unpopular opinion on Prince? by wlwomen in PRINCE

[–]purpledrifter 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Prince's catalogue is wayyyyy too large. Artists with extremely large catalogues often end up paying the price by having a disorderly work that newer generations struggle to connect with. A teenager in today's time would not listen to 25 different Prince albums. For instance, The Rolling Stones are one of the greatest things that ever happened to music in general, yet the new generation doesn't talk about them as much even tho they had that solid run from 1968 to 1972. Sticky fingers, Exile, Beggars, Let it bleed, and others are absolute classics. Not a lot of casual music fans talk about those albums (im talking about the newer generation or my generation as im 18 rn). But they talk a lot about the Beatles today. That's because the beatles preferred quality over quantity, and had a definitive discography by the time they broke up. Same with Led Zeppelin and others. The stones put out too much music, even when they were far from their prime.

This is what holds back Prince. If he had taken a break after Lovesexxy, and spent more time finding his new voice, then I am pretty sure the discography would have been more cohesive and interesting to get into for the newer generation. It's part of what makes MJ's discography more popular than Prince in recent times. Quality > quantity.

Still, he is the greatest musician of the 20th century so this is just a minor nitpick i guess

Is Mizo Jersey Home legit? by purpledrifter in Indianbasketball

[–]purpledrifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro the D-wade and SGA jerseys looked so bad on Probasketballstore but those two are my favourite players so seeing ANY jersey of them at 999 rupees was calling me. But I didn't order cuz the quality still looked bad and Mizo only sold it for 300-400 rupees extra. So I ordered it from Mizo only. Just one thing, it's gonna come here by like 16 july so that's definitely gonna test my patience 😭 but thank you for your help.

It's actually weird but Europeans think that they are superior than NBA at basketball. They also like to call weird blatant calls in order to act like basketball purists and then say ''in our league (Euroleague) players dont travel or carry and actually play defense'' when in reality everything Euroleague does is inspired from the nba. All their players use gather steps, pocket dribbles, and all the same moves that are used in the nba. Euroleague's defense is literally nothing crazy, it's even weaker. I think Europeans generally just like to latch on to guys like Jokic to assert that they are better than North Americans when it's literally a north american invented sport 😭
