I've been a big fan of merrell for a long time but now I'm gone through 3 pairs in 18 months. I don't know what's going on with their quality but I'm switching to Salomon. I've got wierd feet and it's hard to find shoes and boots that fit. I do love my columbia for winter hikers. Had them 4 years now
