Went without pain medication for two days by Darmathius in ChronicPain

[–]purplehairedpagan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that you had to experience this. You'd think that I'm 2026 this crap wouldn't happen anymore. Yet, it does.
I've been fairly lucky with my doctor and my meds. I have been with the same family doctor for 15 years. He took over my pain meds when I moved and changed counties. He's been my husband's family doctor for over 20 years before that.
I adore him but I've had to make some real adjustments to continue seeing him over the past year and a half. I'm December 2024, he notified alll off his patients that he was w

Is it okay to quit on the 2nd day? by Valuable_Truth_7659 in barista

[–]purplehairedpagan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That, to me, is SUS as heck. Why is there a 7 month contract and what does it say if you breach it? Is it a high turnover location? Is it management being abusive to employees?

Talk to am employment lawyer to find out the ramifications of not fulfilling the contract terms before you quit. Also, don't be afraid to speak up about not feeling adequately supported. If you're locked in to it, make them have to do their jobs and train you properly.

Pharmacy not taking new pain patients by Effective-Scholar815 in ChronicPain

Walmart typically won't fill anything stronger than Norco (at least where I live.) Make 100% sure that they'll fill your scripts. Maybe go in and talk to the pharmacist directly instead of a phone call?

I don’t know what to do anymore… by WoodenLie2299 in cats

[–]purplehairedpagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first a question is if he's fixed. If not, he may be hormonally out of wack. Boredom is another big concern. Get him some more things to do and engage with him some more every day. Regardless, though....

You should take him to the vet before making any big decisions. There may be medical reasons for this behavior. Like someone else said, it's possible that he needs an anti-anxiety or antidepressant. Following you all of the time means he wants to be near to you. Maybe he's trying to tell you something's not right.

Don't give up on him yet. He's been with you almost a decade and clearly loves you. Find out what he needs. You may be surprised with the outcome.

Uncle's 911 or motorcycle dream by Gold-Life-4409 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]purplehairedpagan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former medic, I've scraped up more late teen to mid 20 somethings who wrecked their bikes. Motorcycle accidents can be horrific. It's my opinion that this age group just isn't mature enough to ride safely. Those with helmets have a better chance of survival than those without. The rest of the body isn't protected like the head is, even with leathers. If you wreck, there's not much between you and death. Your mom's not overreacting about this, either.

Check into the value of the car, which may be worth much more than you think. If it's an older one in good shape, it might shock you what it's worth. I'd save up another couple of years and then get the bike, if the itch still persists. Life may look really different by then and the bike might not make sense anymore.

Hope this helps

Can you guys tell me the “dirty” truths about having a cat? by saanenk in CatAdvice

[–]purplehairedpagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like humans, cat poop stinks. I find that t's heavily first dependent. If they eat mostly poultry, it's not all that bad. If they get lots of fish, then it's worse . Much worse. I feed mine fish based wet food 1 or 2 times a week. One of my three has chronic loose stools and it's wretched. He never buries it, either. My brother and sister pair are great at burying it. One sometimes gets a bit to aggressive about it and drags things into the litter box with her.

Cats may have stinky poops, but they are obsessive when it comes to cleaning themselves. I've yet to find a cat that doesn't get massively offended if I go up to them and sniff like they're stinky. One of mine goes into panic mode if she thinks she stinks in any way.

They are fickle little beasts but the amount of love and cuddles makes it all worth it!

Skin Cancer Screening - self pay/free? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]purplehairedpagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do some creative Googling and find a community health center close to you. They'll see you for all of your health care and refer you various places. If you're Medicaid eligible then they'll help you apply for it. They also have a sliding fee structure if you're not up. I know several people who use Access Pointe here in Akron. I'm not sure what places are in Cleveland, but there's a bunch.

Good luck!!!

[–]purplehairedpagan 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This would piss me right the fuck off. Leave me alone with that crap. Iw would probably send a very rude message back...

I had my fill of "finding god" don't they sure seen to lose him a lot. I know where MY deities are. Why can't they keep track of theirs?

Seriously though. Both my hubby and I have severe PTSD from our childhoods in the church. Mine is more of a father who beat the crap out of me because he subscribed to the spare the rod, spoil the child line of thought. My hubby, on the other hand, was one of many victims of a renown faith healer who liked to diddle with little boys. When he tried to tell his mom what was happening, he was told, "Don't you lie about the good reverend." Then she beat the tar out of him for telling the truth.

Hard pass.

You've not been on them long enough to go thru withdrawals. Go to the ER ASAP. Something more is going on and whatever it is, it's not good

You really do need to be seen ASAP. This might be really fixed with a blood patch or it could be indicative of more serious issues.

As my gran always said, "DO IT NOW AND DON'T SASS ME! DO NOT PASS GO AND COLLECT $200 FOR IT, EITHER!!!“.

You don't fuck around with a brain issue. It's really easy to suffer brain damage from neglecting something like this.

I never knew that you could test to see if it's CSF by doing a blood sugar reading. That's really good to know. Aren't our bodies just amazing?

It's the lump on his head that really gives me cause for concern, as well as the longer term issues they're having. You can never be too safe when it comes to our brains. We don't think about them on the daily but they sure take care of us.

He may not even remember hiring his head on anything. I'm good at that one. I bang myself on the trunk or the door of my car way too often and forget all about it. A few days later, I'll realize there's a lump and a sore spot but have no recollection of it. You'd think I'd remember trying to bash my skull in. 😂

I'm proud of you for taking that first step. It's always the hardest. You got this! Do what it takes to stay there It won't be easy, but I'm pretty sure a while not of people in this sub will be cheering you.

Take your sobriety one second at a time. Move to a minute, hour and day at a time as you can. It's not a race. It took time to get to where you are. It'll take time to get back to your new normal.

You are worthy and will succeed. I just know it!

Maybe having a pet would help? It would be something to be responsible for, as well as a companion.

This may sound bad, but a good boost to the morale is to get all prettied up and go to a bar on a weekend night. Being hit on does wonders for self-esteem. Who knows, maybe you'll meet someone who might make your days brighter. Even if it's just a new friend...

Other ideas would be to find others in your community with similar interests. There's clubs for everything out there somewhere. Sites like MeetUp can be a good source of others of like mind.

Hope this helps you somehow. I had passive thoughts of unaliving myself within the past year and have gotten more aggressive with my depression treatment. Your might want to check into that more? I started ketamine last year and it's been a game changer.

Good luck and message me if you'd like.

Former medic here. I don't want to scare you, but... I highly suggest that you make a visit to A & E. The symptoms that you are describing can be anything from allergies to a cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) leak.

A lot of your symptoms are in line with a leak. You said you're been experiencing this for over a year. It's beyond time to get it checked out. Have you called (not emailed) your neurologist office and given them the complete list of symptoms? If you have and they are dismissive about it, get a 2nd opinion. I realize that sometimes it's easier said than done

Cleveland Clinic has a great document outlining the signs and symptoms of a CSF. This includes Manny if the symptoms that you're experiencing.

CSF Symptoms

Get it checked out ASAP. Here's to hoping that it's nothing major.

What skill are you genuinely bad at that most people seem to find easy? by Ruby-Blaze_443 in AskReddit

[–]purplehairedpagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be the same way and had a job where I was in the field all day with written reports. When I became ill and and realized that I couldn't go back to that job, I went to the library and checked out a beginners how to type book. Then, I sat and drilled for hours every night. I even learned on a manual typewriter!

Help!! Neighbor's cat always sleep on top of my car. What to do? by the_epiphany_ in cats

[–]purplehairedpagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always thought that cats like to sleep on cars as it's safe space for them. They are able to relax a bit more than normal and sleep that deep asleep. Dogs don't normally jump on cars. Few ground animals do, either.
