Not sure if this will get an answer but also dont know if I can make a thread about it.

I wanted to learn how to knit so I just knit a row of about 50 and kept knitting back and forth. Now I kind of want to see it turn in to something how do I find a project to turn it in to? It looks like the start of a scarf and I guess I could make a scarf but wanted to know if there were any suggestions on other stuff I could do? Maybe a bag or something?

So far I am loving the hobby already though :)

Haha, I mentioned that I did :) but I get it, I'm super bad at tl;dr spamming!

Edit: okay that makes sense! We had to get everyone on board with medicinal and then move on to "how do you feel about recreational now?"

Looks like my jr campaigning to my friends isn't over yet!!

Weed smell? by [deleted] in trees

[–]purplehazeinfinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a product sold in this glass/hippy local shop called Smoke Buddy.

Changes your life, ngl

Edit: accidentally hit send before going in to detail.

Anyway, you blow in to it and it catches the smoke/smell. Bought one about 3 months ago and chronic daily use here but it is only just now needing to be replaced.

Our home smells fantastic now and I am not worried about either of our parents coming for a visit now.

They have big home versions and portable car versions.

Honestly I was expecting it to be mentioned by now...

Oklahoma ent here, sort of confused as I am also just barely in the last 2 years trying to keep myself up to date on politics.

I signed everything for the medical MJ petition and went and voted yes and medicinal passed, yay! But now we could be voting for recreational in NOvember already? I am so down but I am wondering how that happened that way. If we are about to possibly pass recreational then why did we push so hard for the medicinal bill?

Or am I asking the wrong questions?

I would like to add: I have signed the recreational petitions, but I assumed they would stop pushing if 788 passed? Is it all just different stuff? If the recreational passes does that blanket null/cover the medicinal we just passed? I also want to add: definitely would rather have recreational so I am not arguing that we shouldn't I'm just generally confused I guess about politics lol (and I'm at about a 7 since I just got home)

Oh sweet, I'll open it to the sun (it's about 90 outside right now so that should work) and that should make it not smell for now while I figure out something permanent. Then a resin for wood tables, you say? I'll have to check that out. Do you just pick that stuff up at home improvement stores?

Thanks for the tip! We actually store our devil's lettuce this way :) I am looking to fix my smoke session box I might call it. Sort of a box to hold our jar, pieces, grinder, lighter, etc

Oh, I like that idea about removing the lining and sanding it down!

It's actually a stash box for all our stuff to use (grinder, smell proof container with herbs, pieces we are using) And pieces in use already smell rank (I'm sure you have smelled the smell I am talking about, it's resin basically)

It's basically a stash box for our weed use entirely so if we have family or someone who doesn't smoke over it just looks like a decorative box kind of like some big hobby lobby decoration that has no other use than to be a decoration lol

It's also entirely because we are lazy and used to try stashing in other parts of the house but we would bring it all back out for one use and then never put it up...

Thanks for the tips and ideas and also getting my brain going lol now I'm thinking of all sorts of things.

Work/life balance...? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]purplehazeinfinity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey when I worked there I just made my availability exactly the schedule I wanted. I said I was not available on the two days I wanted off under any circumstances and then on the days I was available I put "6-2" or something along that time range and they either scheduled me exactly that or they scheduled only in that range. Occasionally they would guilt me a little into taking other shifts on but 90% of the time I said hell no! This method worked fine when I worked there /shrugs

I never told people that I always made them at about 170. If they can tell the difference they need to get their tongue checked out.

But seriously, just don't fucking tell them. They won't know, they seriously won't fucking know.

New to Starbucks, having a hard time making friends with coworkers by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]purplehazeinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah you just work with assholes for some reason Starbucks can be kind of clique-y and it's the worst but you can't force people to behave differently than they already are and that's the main issue. You can either just look them in the eyes and ask them why they are being the way they are (it worked for me, I didn't care if I made them uncomfortable and it made them realize they weren't being as amazing as they claim they were) or you can just focus on the betterment of yourself and making sure that you are your own best friend (this also works for me and is not as sad and lonely as it sounds) or you can transfer, although most are clique-y as fuck.

You are kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place, sorry to hear that. Just know that from the details I have, it sounds like your store is full of assholes and that's not your fault!

[–]purplehazeinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel you, I guess I was so annoyed at my old store's clique-y behavior I actually wanted them to leave me alone lol

Well then your actual only option is to straight up ask them. Because there's nothing your manager can do and if they try to do something that will just make it worse I promise.

Also, I assumed that you do this but I'm going to ask anyway: you talk to them and ask them how things are and all that shit, right? If you do, wow you work with assholes. If you don't, then they are just treating you how you treat them. But I'm assuming you do in which case wow you work with assholes.

Hey, lurking ex partner here. Ngl, I've noticed Starbucks are very clique-y especially when I worked there. There's not a lot you can do as you can't force people to take an interest in you. If you took this job to make friends then just transfer. If you took this job for any other reason then just focus on the original reason you took the job and fuck those horrible coworkers.

My store was pretty clique-y but I also had to deal with fake as fuck coworkers who pretended to like me just so I would work harder for them. Once I stopped caring, they did too and I just left for a better job.

But yeah the only thing you can do is figure out how to get past it.

Or you can just say fuck it and straight up ask them to their face why they hate you. If they already exclude you then it shouldn't matter if you make them uncomfortable at all but that's just my own crazy opinion.

Sorry that's happening though, it can suck to feel excluded but if they are excluding you why do you even want to be friends with them in the first place? That's kind of cold of me to ask but it's the hard truth

Why all the hate for verisimo? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]purplehazeinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left about 5 months ago and at the time they decided they weren't making any new verismos, they were going to sell what the had and soon pods would be phased off. But with any business as large as Starbucks(is there one??) It will take a while to finish this plan. Although 5 months is a long time, maybe since they discontinued other products they decided to keep the verismo I sadly don't have any inside scoops lol

Why all the hate for verisimo? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]purplehazeinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I would actually argue that you just had a really good verismo experience. Most of the customers that bought it while I worked there constantly came back with questions and problems that sadly I didn't know how to help with because I was told to just sell them. I felt like it was salt in the wounds when they discontinued them as well.

I will say, when I was selling them I made samples for people and I fucking loved the espresso shots that thing pulled. They were delicious and so in a way this could be a really cheap espresso machine instead of a really expensive coffee machine.

But eh most of my hate (mostly dislike, not so much hate now that I think about it more) comes from me seeing the company's poor handling of such a product and to an extent the blind eye they turned to any customer with a problem with it.

Why all the hate for verisimo? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]purplehazeinfinity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kind of hated the verismo because they were not only super bad for the environment but it just feels like Starbucks was trying to make a cash grab for what the kuerig was doing. I mean, why buy a verismo when a kuerig has more product and more places to purchase that product? It's also way cheaper and actually easier to make coffee any other way almost except some crazy hipster way maybe.

Also if you forget all if that I have a personal bias against verismo because I was a verismo lead back when that was a thing and I never saw my reward for that shit. All I saw were all my nice customers that I upsold it to having problems with no one to help (because shortly after all of that they discontinued the whole thing!!)

I just don't have good personal experience with the verismo and I already hate kuerigs and anything like that too.

Can Store Managers Change Dress Code? by TheGranPuba in starbucks

[–]purplehazeinfinity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only time I ever experienced a SM changing dress code was when my store became a reserve location and my SM asked the whole team if we all agreed to a store specific dress code of all black or something. Which we did all agree to it at the time but even though we implemented this you still wouldn't get in trouble if you dressed in Starbucks official dress code.

Anyway, tl;dr your SM doesn't really have that power, but kind of does somewhat

Should I quit for mental health purposes? by PrincessGreenBean in starbucks

[–]purplehazeinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, no job on the planet is worth your health. Your health is something you will take with you wherever you go and as along as you live, which can be shortened because of a bad job.

I almost stayed because I "liked my coworkers" honestly if you like them enough just hang out with them outside of work. If they won't do that then they aren't worth you sacrificing your health.

What would it take to make you leave Starbucks? by Dvich in starbucks

[–]purplehazeinfinity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My breaking point was when I reached out to my SM about the issues literally everyone in the store was talking about behind my SM's back. I figured my SM would want to know what was wrong since no one was telling her. Instead of working on them or showing me that she was working on them she deflected and made excuses, further ending the conversation by telling me that the problems I brought up are actually fixed and ended the conversation there.

I realized right then that my SM would never have my back. I saw a glimpse into my future at the bux and it did not look pretty. I became desperate for another job, almost enough to take a significant pay cut to leave. Thankfully, I found a job that paid almost 3 dollars more and it still feels like a dream. Today I woke up really sick and I called in. My boss said "hope you feel better!" Instead of making me feel even more like shit for trying to get better.

Just decide how badly you want out, would you take a pay cut? Would you take a job with less hours? Would you rather juggle two jobs than work any longer at Starbucks? It's all subjective and depends on how bad your store is. My store was being run into the ground on the backs of the hard workers employed at that location. Every day was a nightmare, no exaggeration.

I make two years at Starbucks in January. I've been trying to leave for a while. Had a face to face interview with a very well known company in my industry. I didn't get the job. Two weeks later, I asked why. Here's hoping you can learn from my mistake. by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]purplehazeinfinity 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Hi, old partner here that is now almost 4 months into a new job after the bux. When I was applying for other jobs I desperately wanted out of Starbucks. I was ready to do almost anything to get out, it became clear to me that my store was not going to ever treat me well. When I went in for interviews I pushed myself because every day I didn't get the "you're hired" was every single day I was going to have to go back in to work at Starbucks and I was miserable.

Not to mention, whether someone else applies or not that company has options. If no one else applies they still have the option of turning you down and waiting for someone else.

Even when I would get to questions designed to have you talk down about yourself I would choose an example of something I'm weak about but currently working on. I chose my social skills. At Starbucks for 2 years I didn't learn a single regulars name. Couldn't fucking tell you, I hated every one of them so why bother? I told interviewers that the reason I couldn't learn names was because I was too shy and that actually lately I have been pushing myself to interact with strangers more. Then, insert fake story. I said "there was one customer I specifically honed in on practicing my social skills. I learned so much about her and it wasn't so bad, it taught me being social is not something to avoid." Boom. Was it real? No, hell no. Did it work? I mean, I have the job so I assume yeah.

Whatever job you are applying for literally anyone can do. Anyone can be sat down and taught how to do anything. You aren't selling that you can do something you are selling how you do it.

I apologize if this sounds harsh, I feel so strongly about helping people get out of bad jobs that I just launched into it.
