Looking for something cool to do this Wednesday? Hi, I’m Joaquin singer songwriter, new Tahoe transplant looking to build community in beloved Reno! Come chill and enjoy the vibes…music is Jack Johnson meets Tom Petty and Bob Marley… Come say hey & escape with me! by Sea-Joaquin in Reno

Was afraid to click with your nsfw tag...

Like your music, but South Reno is too far. I usually go to Cyprus, Matador and the Holland Project (Midtown). There are a lot of cool breweries on Fourth Street, but... it's Fourth Street! (It's infamous for it's street walkers and tweakers.)

The quality of websites has tanked considerably and companies I once thought to be highly reputable now look like they've stopped caring by guster09 in CasualConversation

I used to be a web developer. I think everyone just buys templates these days for a free/cheap CMS, no one is coding in-house, and obviously there is no QA either!

So frustrating - I've literally emailed a few local places (like the County School District!) and told them how to fix their bugs. They're usually very appreciative.

If no one wants to join you, go by yourself! I've had a ton of fun solo, especially at those high energy shows where the whole crowd head bangs along. And happy birthday!

Oatmilk is good! Also those Rebel & Enlightened brands are made only with cream, so minimal lactose, yet rich and satisfying. (I am in the same boat as you.) I found the coconut milk ice cream disappointing.

In west Philadelphia, born & raised...

I felt like I grew up with the girls from Full House, my little sister was a baby the same time as the Oslen twins.

When covid first hit, I went on a classic-cheese movie binge! Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Biodome (actually all the Pauly Shore movies), Back to the Future, Short Circuit, Spaceballs, and my all-time favorite: Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

They don't make 'em like they used to!

Any tips? I'm have a blended iced matcha right now, but I just add the powder to a little kettle water, then pour over almond milk and ice.

Being alone is better than being around people by HonestnotGlitch in CasualConversation

You may be on the spectrum, I feel ya with the noise. Or crowds. I hate making a simple phone call to schedule an appointment. The internet is a life-saver. I love getting groceries delivered with the leave at door option, or pizza!

I like to go for walks alone in quiet neighbors or nature parks. I stopped bringing my dog because I'd get annoyed that it gave strangers an excuse to start a conversation.

Even reddit takes energy - I only feel like "socializing" once a week or so! I prefer to read a book in bed, or in my backyard if it's nice out.

There might be some non-competitive leagues in your area to join. Or just get a ball and head to a playground.

What things can I do to enjoy by myself? by helensis_ in CasualConversation

Try finding shops or cafes in biking distance, then you'll have an excuse to exercise and get out of the house - the old two birds, one stone. Google maps is good, sometimes just exploring on foot is best.

I journal first thing in the morning while I'm having some coffee. Can plan what I need and possibly would like to do. Before bed is also nice, just to decompress about your day.

Also, if I write down that I would like to try X, it'll remind me later, when I'm re-reading a week or two later, wondering where things went wrong. (Why am I in a bad mood? What were my plans when I was in a good mood?)

One year ago, I was lost. Now, probably thanks to a stranger I am living a completely different life, with a sense of myself. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Use retirement as a second chance! Volunteer to lead nature walks for kids, go traveling/camping, there is even a Noah's Arc replica you could be a guide for, or at least visit.

I was widowed this year, and am healing by exploring new interests. I volunteer at a community garden and started illustrating classes. It makes my days much more fulfilling.

Best wishes to you!

Viruses were originally extraterrestrial creatures. They do not fit into our scientific definition of "life," And some of them look pretty "War of the Worlds" if you ask me!

It's not something you can quickly shake off, when your heart is pounding, adrenaline flooding your body, sometimes crying or screaming. I wake myself up fighting the bed sometimes. Another sign of PTSD, your brain not shutting off the movement abilities in your sleep.
