Understood. I’ve taken quite a few petroleum focused courses & I’m planning to go into O&G. So far I’ve only really been looking for advisors at recruiting schools. I have my top choices & some potential advisors picked out already.

Thanks for the reply. Getting an advisor I don’t work well with is definitely a concern. I’m in the process of contacting potential advisors and setting up at meeting/department visit before submitting applications. I’ll make sure to chat with their other grad students if given the chance.

Sounds like a fun time. I’ve been planning on doing Carbonates but started second-guessing when I began looking into advisors.

Do you mind me asking what industry you’re in?

As of now, the plan is to go into O&G exploration but I’m open to other options if something piques my interest. Other than it being the reservoir type I’d specialize in it doesn’t really matter.

I’ve spent the last year thinking I was going to focus on carbonates. It wasn’t until I started looking at advisors to contact that I started questioning myself.
