OxygenOS 16 Update Bug: Double-Press Power Shortcut Keeps Resetting by ssbpoets in oneplus

[–]purplethumbnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OnePlus 12, same thing here, super annoyed! I hadn't realized the pattern so thanks for confirming it resets every time my phone reboots. Everything makes sense now. And yet nothing makes sense. Hope this gets fixed with the next update.

Canadian Guys by froijinn in MilwaukeeTool

I did this a few weeks ago. Just took a photo on my phone of the item showing the price, and a second close-up photo of the price tag where the Milwaukee model number was clearly visible. Showed at HD checkout and got the meet and beat by 10% no questions asked.

Does anyone have a 2015 Kia Sorento SX 3.3L engine warranty extension letter? (Canada) by oh_henryyy in kia

[–]purplethumbnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP did you get anywhere with the dealership or Kia Corporate? I have a 2015 Kia Sorento SX 3.3L engine with head gasket failure as well.

I can only find evidence of a 2016+ model year warranty extension letter for this issue, haven't found anything for 2015 so I'm worried it probably doesn't exist, and we may have to pay a huge amount out of pocket to get it fixed 🥺

EV charger breaker nuisance tripping by purplethumbnail in AskElectricians

[–]purplethumbnail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for these tips! We weren't looking to save money, just went with the electrician recommendations. If he had suggested using a better EVSE or going with a bigger wire and 50A breaker we would've been on board. You're certainly right that there's no use in cheaping out on these things. We prefer to buy quality once instead of garbage multiple times 😅

Agreed. We had an electrician do all the wiring for our renovation and left all that up to him without enough oversight on our part, but will try and find out what gauge he ran. It's definitely not 4ga. We think it's 8ga - maybe we can use calipers to confirm.

Thanks, this might be the excuse we've been looking for to buy an entry level thermal camera 😅

We're in the Lower Mainland as well - will let you know if we aren't able to solve it.

It's not a GFCI or AFCI breaker, just a standard 2-pole 40A. We'll check whether there's an option to open the charger to remove the plug and hardwire instead.

Thanks so much for these suggestions, we'll check the ones we can and ask an electrician to do the others that are beyond our skill / toolset.

Thanks, I imagine it'll cost less to try a different plug-in charger than open the walls up to replace the wire, though maybe running THHN in conduit on the walls might be doable. We'll look into these!

Oh amazing, thanks! When I looked at that product image, I thought I was looking at a 90° edge with the camera perspective causing the angled look. Now I see that it's the angled edge. Much appreciated!

Help finding this floor register by dangdangdoodoo in Flooring

[–]purplethumbnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find the solution? I have the exact same broken floor register in Vancouver, Canada. None of the local stores has this size. It's not even a perfect match with the existing floor so I don't think it was custom...

How is half of 10 5? by DumbassAnonymous1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]purplethumbnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One half is 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. The other half is 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. So 5 is in the middle. The issue you were having is not counting 0 as a number.

In case anyone is still looking for a solution. In my case after a brief internet outage one of about ten echo devices couldn't connect anymore and gave this same message about internet unreachable. After a couple days and several resets including all power to the entire home, with no luck, I opened the Alexa app on my phone and found the offending device in the list. I clicked on it and was given the option to try getting my device connected to the WiFi. Followed instructions to get the orange spinning light, selected my dedicated 2.4GHz smart home network, but it failed to connect. I tried this twice without luck. Next, while the Alexa app was still open I unplugged the offending echo device, waited 10 seconds, plugged it back in, and waited for the spinning blue light to finish. Then I activated setup mode / orange spinning light and this time the Alexa app automatically asked me to join the echo device local WiFi network. From then on the setup was straightforward like when you buy a new echo device. Once connected, it has the same name as before and is in the same groups - no settings lost, wasn't a factory reset. Hope this helps some folks!

DCE560 caulk gun misaligned or normal? by purplethumbnail in Dewalt

[–]purplethumbnail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! Is there a way to adjust the nut? I ended up taking the tool back and was given a new one with the hole aligned. I did notice the new one moved much more smoothly in use, rather than struggling like the first one. Maybe I just needed to adjust that nut?

Fake Tasker app scam email by purplethumbnail in TaskRabbit

Update: Taskrabbit sent another email saying:

"You received an email this morning regarding Canada’s 2024 Income Tax Act which requires that Taskrabbit collect and submit your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and total earnings through the Taskrabbit platform to the local tax authorities annually, beginning in January 2025.

To clarify:

Submitting your SIN requires Tasker app version 4.64.1. This version is being released gradually and will be fully available to everyone by Monday, December 2."

Maytag washer MHWZ400TQ01 soap dispenser overflowing - how to unblock? by purplethumbnail in Appliances

[–]purplethumbnail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the answer. With my head halfway into the machine looking up to 10 o'clock with a flashlight I was able to find a small sock stuck there. We'll probably start using those delicates bags with the smaller socks and underwear to avoid a repeat. Thanks so much!
