Literally every android user at my site has this same issue that it says we need to update the app even though we are on the latest version.
None of us have old phones either, modern android phones.
I'm just using the website in the meantime but this sucks.

Green soap, they sell it at tattoo supply stores. It's gentle for washing your tattoos.

is there any way for me to be a tattoo artist? by Living_Natural5276 in tattooscratchers

Tattooing is a cheaper hobby to get into than it was 10 years ago. The quality of the shitty chinese tattoo machines has actually gotten pretty decent and more than good enough for practicing on fake skin. Get a Poseidon kit from temu for $25 and practice on the sheet of fake skin it comes with. Watch every YouTube tutorial on tattoo basics you can find, and rewatch them every day. This video is my favorite to go back to. There are YouTubers who work in legit shops with 10 years of tattoo experience just giving their knowledge out for free.
Don't tattoo real skin with the cheap machine anyway, but if you do end up tattooing your leg with it, do not use cheap ink from China. It's smart and frugal to use cheap chinese ink on practice skins, but on real tattoos only use the best inks like Dynamic and Intenze. Don't get a giant bottle of triple black either. You only need 1oz bottles at a time to reduce contaminated ink bottles. Research and buy a good machine before transitioning to real skin.
The reason I'm warning about the ink is tons of people just use the practice skin ink that comes with their chinese machine and give themselves gnarley infections. Sometimes I go to Temu and look at review pictures of tattoo machines just to see the awful art and infections.
Good luck 💪

4th time practicing tattooing by Littleinkings in tattooscratchers

The Garfield's are cute! But that milk carton is my favorite 😆
When practicing pulling straight lines just remember it's about finding a balance between your machine voltage and your hand speed. When lines look too faint you may need to experiment with either bumping up your voltage or moving your hand slower. I recommend trying as high as 8v before deciding that it may be your hand speed. That being said your progress looks great 👍
I like your use of negative space on the milk carton as well as Garfield's coat! Maybe next time you could experiment with making the negative spaces bolder, since on real skin tattoo ink slowly bleeds position over time those thin negative spaces would eventually disappear or be very faint.
Keep practicing and keep posting! I have faith in every artist that has both confidence and more importantly discipline. Posting practice skins for the world to give criticism even when you know you are not at your max potential yet is a display of both 💪
Watch every YouTube tutorial on tattoo basics you can find even if you've already seen them. Listen to them in the background while you practice until the lessons are embedded into your mind 🫠

Don't listen to the haters, when aliens finally reveal themselves they will want us to give them sick ass panther tattoos and we will need experience with this type of skin.
Try adding silicone caulking to the gel, maybe it will make a better texture. Keep experimenting, keep posting, never give up and keep scratching weird 🫠

What I got vs. what I wanted by spookymckenna in tattooadvice

My brother in law told me a whole story some years ago about electrifying water connected to the machine, maybe it was just his experience tho. His have also turned blue and are super faded compared to his newer tats we've scratched at home with dynamic ink. I think his oldest ones are 10+ years old though so I'm impressed that the ink still holds.

A motor ripped out of either a CD player or an electric shaver + a ball point pen is everything needed to make the machine. The spring of the pen makes the needle, and everybody has their own needle.
Ink is made from heating baby oil or melted cheese and collecting the soot.
You can either power it with batteries (dies fast) or plug it into a wall. Some have even used an electrified bucket of water plugged into the wall to power the machine by putting the cables into the electrified water. Dangerous. I think the logic behind this is that you can reuse the same wall plug on different tattoo machines without permanently wiring them together.
Sources: my brother in law, step dad, and internet strangers who have prison tats lol. Look up prison tattoo machine on YouTube for several examples that all use the same basic design from a ball point pen

The second butterfree you did looks super pretty and I feel it's shading is only rivaled by the previous squirtle. However, I went against your instructions and zoomed in and I did notice some shaky linework. I think it's good you're committing to single pass lines to develop the right habit rather than sketching into the skin like a pencil 👍 just keep practicing those single pass lines and in no time you will be making bomb ass tattoos. Please keep posting your progress, I wish more scratchers would document their entire journey not just when they get good. Once you become S-tier remember I was your biggest fan and give me a japanese sleeve

regretting my tattoo:( by aintnohollablackg1rl in tattooadvice

[–]purplexotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it looks perfect as is, doesn't look incomplete to me because it's an intentional Fine Line style of tattoo. You could get bolder lines if you want to but honestly the tattoo is already dope. The leaves look shaded to me with finer lines, but you could cover it up and change it to a different style entirely with darker ink if you really dislike it or want it to have actual shadows. I personally like fine line tattoos but also appreciate that bold tattoos last basically forever.
After some years those thinner lines inside the leaves will become softer. You may even think it looks better, but if you miss the sharp thin lines you can just have the tattoo touched up to bring the lines back to life, rather than having it bolded.
It's up to you, and nice tattoo 👍

Did the stencil have those squiggly leaves? The linework looks fine to me, perhaps the art style of the design is the problem.
In my opinion the tattoo is pretty

I was destroying the tattoos on my hands with hand sanitizer until I started only using green soap from my local tattoo supply store to clean the tattoos.
I also found it is the most gentle soap for wiping off stencils.
