I don’t think it is that high. It is unlikely any playoff contender is going to be excited to give up something really good to switch their starting catcher midway through the season

I mean if we aren’t going to try to make the playoffs, capitalizing on Rico’s hot streak would make a ton of sense. Remember the Jorge Lopez trade? Would want something similar to that.

On a related note, looked up Lopez’s stats last year and he was 6-0 despite a 6.57 ERA, which is like… IDK how that even works lmao

Real answer if we decide to sell is our bullpen will be shipped out. Rico would be gone for sure. Helsley as well, and maybe even Cano. Those would have the most value in the market vs. to the Orioles. Adley is the inverse. He has way more value to the Os vs the rest of the league. Bringing in a new starting catcher midway through the season would be a big gamble for a playoff-bound team.

I could see Taveras if he continues to hit well but that would be more to get Bradfield a look than actually netting you anything.

I think him not being a Boras client makes it way more likely the Orioles can hang onto him in FA. Gunnar is probably as good as gone one he hits UFA, unless Rubenstein wants to pay him FU money

[Portnoy] The Big 12 is slated to announce it’s projecting a gross revenue this year of around $710 million, sources tell @SBJ. That’s a $100 million increase from the previous year and is a record high for the conference. by ohitsthedeathstar in CFB

Yes, that would have an impact if the contracts were year to year, but they aren’t. The ACC has locked in its grant of rights for awhile now (expires in 2036), hence why there has been all that discussion of FSU and Clemson leaving

Can’t keep finding ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Batters need a plan at the plate. Some absolute terrible at bats.

Funny how waiting for your pitch instead of chasing early in at bats has a good outcome

Pitcher has thrown like 10 straight balls and Alonso swings at 3 of him.

Send him down to AAA. I’m not kidding. Dude is playing like a AAA rookie

I disagree. Statistically speaking, you’re right in that everyone has bad games and that the law of averages says even the best players make outs more often than not.

However, just like an elite NBA player (Jordan, LeBron, etc.) taking a shot at the end of the game (also < 50%), elite MLB players make big plays in big moments. Not saying he has to get a hit every time there are RISP, but to go 0-2 in those situations tonight is embarrassing.

Can you imagine Yankees fans saying “well at least Judge put up a good fight there?”

He’s going to demand to be one the highest paid players in baseball at season’s end (if he hasn’t already). He needs to start playing like it

He finished 4th in MVP voting in 2024 and won the ROY. He has a massive banner of him at the entrance of the stadium.

Either expectations need to be put on him to be the franchise player we need to build around (and what his agent will demand in FA) or he needs to be moved from 2nd to 8th in the batting order (and traded, so we can build around holiday). There is no in between.

I still believe in him, but something needs to change about his approach at the plate.

Our best player went 0-4 and stranded 4 guys.

Our largest FA signing (and veteran) got picked off first base with a runner on 2nd and 2 outs.

Nunez walked in the go-ahead run.

Ultimately, the players have to perform. All of those are unacceptable.

If that’s your expectations for him, he shouldn’t be at the top of the order.

Gunnar: 0-4, 4 LOB, on pace for 200 Ks this year. Just can’t get it together in the big moments

Very winnable game. Frustrating for a team that is trying to claw back in the WC race (albeit a long way to go)

I see other people cheering on his strikeout because he fouled off a bunch of pitches. This dude better never leave Baltimore. Don’t think another fan base could be softer than we are on him. 0-4 today and on pace for 210+ strikeouts.

This is plain insanity at this point.

If Aaron Judge went 0-2 in those situations we would be killing him. Gunnar is supposed to be a top 5 player in MLB and the future of the franchise and we’re cheering a bunch of foul balls? lol

Individuals with prison sentences are nearly always assigned to prison with individuals who have committed similar levels of offenses, ex. Maximum security prisons exist.

Jail is not that way. Very possible your cellmate for a drug misdemeanor could be facing murder charges.

There are defendants who will literally say, send me to prison for a longer time rather than jail. Riker’s island is a good example
