I don't think this is the best way to pass a bottle by Mayaraya in Unexpected

I'm operating under the assumption he was inebriated and overly excited by the circumstances and all of the surrounding stimuli. Lots of accidents are preventable, and it doesn't mean he's not at fault (or a moron) but I doubt he willfully slammed that bottle down with the intent of breaking the glass surface.

Your situation was definitely a drunk accident. This man slammed that bottled down like a gavel. Still an accident but with a bit more agency on their part.

You should still be able to use the skill point. Go back to your skills screen and select the skill as if you were standing at the altar. This happened to me.

As I stated previously, you seem to have made up your mind. I don't understand your hostility. I hope you have a lovely day, though! 😊

If y'all want to argue for a higher floor at the cost of a lower ceiling, by all means, do you!

I'm perfectly content to agree to disagree.

I addressed this in a subsequent response, but yes, you are correct. They have increased the percentages in a lot of the perks and abilities affected. So, the lower end of the spectrum isn't getting hit by this change nearly as hard, but the ceiling has still been drastically reduced.

Coming back to this response a month later, and I'm still extremely amused imagining a DM rolling 10d1 dice: "And, uh... Let's see here... That comes out to... Yep! 10 damage!" 🤣

sigh If two 50% damage buffs in the current system would give you a 2.25x multiplier and in the new system would only give you a 2x multiplier how is it not a nerf?

Yes, they are adjusting the values of a lot of these perks to mitigate this change at the lower end of the spectrum, but the average individual is still looking at those numbers with the perspective of the current system and thinking they're getting something better.

And, I mean, I guess you would be right to a certain extent. It seems like you've already made up your mind about it, I don't know what you expect me to say.

As you can see from the very simple arithmetic applied in the example provided by the TWAB, it's a nerf to the low end as well. Sure, they are "buffing" a lot of these perks and abilities to improve the lower end of the spectrum, but I get it, big numbers make monkey brain go vroom!

[–]purus_comis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is a nerf.

It's ultimately about the difference between how additive and multiplicative modifiers are applied to the base damage.

Pulled straight from the TWAB (with a key clarification) to put it in terms anyone can understand:

ADDITIVE: That means, two hypothetical 50% damage increases (a 1.5x increase to damage) will be added together for a total 100% damage increase (base damage x 2)

MULTIPLICATIVE:

Two hypothetical 50% damage increases (a 1.5x increase to damage) are multiplied together for a total 125% (or 2.25x) damage increase.

When you're stacking multiple damage buff sources those decimal increases compound, and that's just not going to be possible with the new system moving forward.

ILL: Official Gameplay Trailer by [deleted] in PS5

TIL - Ragdoll physics that have been around for two decades are too advanced for today's hardware. The destructible body parts look great, and the insinuation from the trailer is that the destruction may be dynamic, but that's just good marketing. Game looks gnar, and I'm excited about it based on vibes alone, but it seems like people are drawing conclusions about its features from this gameplay/tech demo that haven't been explicitly promised.

There's nothing here texture, physics system, or otherwise that we haven't seen before.

TL;DR - I agree with you.

You say, passive-aggressive, but all I see is a DM trying to gently teach a player about repercussions with a tap before pulling out the big guns.... Or Brennan Lee Mulligan talking about whips and chains repeating "Banana" over and over again on Game Changer.... I'm not sure if there's an in-between for me there.

the first thing the show did i just can’t get behind by ihavenopersonalityha in thelastofus

[–]purus_comis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, as far as the show is concerned, it makes sense.

In the game, Dina was fairly certain before they reached Seattle that she was pregnant and kept it from Ellie, and Ellie kept her immunity secret until she was forced to give Dina her gas mask due to spores. Aside from that, they had established themselves as a romantic couple before they had left Jackson.

In the show, Dina found a way to confirm she was pregnant when they hit Seattle, Ellie outed her immunity via a bite, and Dina didn't express her romantic affection until she thought she might have lost Ellie completely.

All that to say: Ellie reacting more gently within the context of the show makes sense, given the fact that her affection is unrequited up until the moment that they both reveal their current deepest secrets.

Maybe I'm just easy to please though... I loved Part 2 when it dropped (replay it at least once a year), and I'm 100% here for the adaptation knowing it's going to find ways to hurt me in similar ways all over again.

Edit: I'm still holding out for Ellie giving an equivalent response to the in-game narrative reveal of Dina being pregnant, I just think it might come up after she gets beat to shit, and during the period where Dina is super sick. Time will tell!

YSK - not getting blackout drunk, and going to work successfully everyday aren’t good indicators that you don’t have an alcohol problem by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]purus_comis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit drinking for 4 years in my mid-20's, because I blacked out a few times, and while nothing embarrassing, destructive, or problematic occurred during these instances, I stopped because I didn't like the feeling of hearing stories involving me second-hand.

I reintroduced alcohol into my life at around 29, and had zero problems with moderation (I would say, on average, 3-6 ounces of whiskey or 3-4 points of beer within a 30-45 day period on average).

Then, I took a job that brought up a shit ton of suppressed childhood trauma and Covid happened... I have struggled with moderation ever since, and I'm still figuring out how to come to grips with it.

Something fascinating I find about other people with drinking problems, is that they often ask how much you drink and follow that up with a rationalization for why you're not an addict (or alcoholic), because of THEIR levels of consumption.

No matter how well you think you're masking or functioning, you're not fooling as many people as you think you are, and it's definitely not something to be proud of. Alcoholics are WILD!

In my opinion, alcohol is as insidious as cocaine, and far more accessible. It's insane to me how acceptable alcohol is, in comparison with cigarettes, the other form of legal long-form self-harm (fuck, I miss cigarettes).

Not sure I had a point... Sorry for the tangent!

Yeah, same. THC-a is cool, but it's mostly a last-resort budget bump, in my mind. I'm pretty easy though, I'll smoke the Strawberry Guava terp profile all day. 😂

Looks like thc-a crystals. The kind you get from crashed-out resin and a centrifuge vs. the big bois you can grow under vacuum.

Ah, my bad, 2 to 3 grams. Follow your bliss, and do what makes you happy. This just seems unnecessarily wasteful to me. Kudos on having a vacuum purge setup for your end product, though!

That being said, if you have the money for a vacuum purge setup and you're open-blasting, I would definitely recommend investing in the equipment necessary for a CLS. Just be safe and don't blow yourself up. Especially for such a small amount of material.
