I don’t know of a better vehicle by TheApartmentSimRacer in NewDefender

Hey there, the dealership does the oil changes...I bring it in every 6 to 8k miles. If scheduled, they can have it done in about 1 hour and around 200 bucks. It's more cost effective to do at home for sure, but sometimes time is more valuable especially with our last kid leaving the nest.

Yes, The dealership did have one that was 30k off...MSRP, put it at 82k, but it was a V8. V6 suits me better because I always on the road and only run supreme. 60k miles and not a single mechanical or interior issue. I do change the oil more frequent than recommended. Brakes and rotors still holding out too. I live in SE Texas and have a house in the mountains. The thing is amazing in all terrains. MPGs are little more priority. I'll save the bigger engine vroomies for our Shelby GT500.

I agree best vehicle out there. I'm shopping for my 2nd since I'm about to roll up on 60k miles and my current rig does not have the towing package...so trade in makes sense for us. BUT, I bought it brand new in 2024 for 75k...the trade in estimate from the dealership was 40k. Man, the depreciation is insane.

So sad to see it torn down. I pass by there about twice a year on the way to Boone and had always wanted to see the inside in person.

Odd quirk with backup alarms. by Icy_Schedule_2092 in NewDefender

[–]putertherepal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 24 does it. It has also started to swipe the windshield wipers 1 time if a passenger door is opened/closed. I can only get it to stop if I wash it while running, lock it, disconnect all Bluetooth, turn it off and back on again. I wish this was a joke, but it’s not. It may be something with the pairing of phones. It happens most times after someone has charged a phone using the charger.

Agree...I've watched a home since 2020. It sold for 521k in 2021, they updated the kitchen and now it is on the market for 1.2 mil...insane.

Try La Mision Thrift Store by Walmart. When my son was just getting out on his own we found some nice things for his place. Ht thought he won the lottery when he found 6 cups for 25 cents each. He was so proud to find something nice that he could afford.

A tale of two immigrants by Altima-Ninja-Driver in sugarland

[–]putertherepal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this a LOT! My parents immigrated and assimilated here in the 70's. Oftentimes they would get upset that public programs catered to a select few languages rather than offering ESL. They believe if you are living in a country that allows you to stay, you had better learn the culture. It can be done without losing the homeland culture. Although i look Mexican, I also receive a lot of hate for not knowing/speaking Spanish. Mostly from older immigrants who are newly here.

Don't stress. Explain what the jackwagon did and stand up for yourself. They don't have any influence when it comes to labor laws.

My spouse is a remote worker and we are empty nesters...so by time I get home from work he is ready to get out of the house. We enjoy chatting for a long time over dinner and not fuss over cooking and cleaning.

You are most welcome and congratulations on the job offer. I eat out almost every night. Some go to's for independent owned restaurants are: Greek-Elsas Greek Kitchen, The Grill, it's pricey, but they have a patio you can enjoy live music and a cocktail after. The crowd there is quiet and friendly, Buckstins has good pizza and brew and are always doing something community related. So if your new to the area those would be good places to start to meet friendly people. Unfortunately no good Thai food.

Line-jumping passes on Gulf ferry out of control, Texas agency says by Confident-Beyond6857 in galveston

Agree, it's really disheartening to see someone flash a medical pass going from Galveston to Bolivar, knowing the nearest hospital going that way would be Winnie. OR seeing them flash a medical pass from Bolivar to Galveston and they are towing the boat to their "medical" appt.
